RMweb Premium corneliuslundie Posted January 9, 2015 RMweb Premium Share Posted January 9, 2015 I'm not sure why the footbridge needed replacing. Wasn't access to the central platforms by subway then? Ironically, the down through road is still in place but has been out of use for quite some time and there is a large hole in platform 3 towards the south end which shows no signs of being filled. RMweb Gold big jim Posted January 9, 2015 RMweb Gold Share Posted January 9, 2015 the down through has been out of use since a freightliner coal train came off the road at the north end a few years back damaging the points its also worth noting that when the track plan was futher rationalised at some point (in the 80s maybe) it was not possible for a train to depart platform 3 towards hereford as there was no mainline signal at the south end, there was a ground signal but that only applied to moves in the wolverhampton direction, so if you needed to shunt towards sutton bridge you had to pass it at danger too they did put a signal back in recently, maybe 2010ish, so passenger trains can now depart south from 3 again
