Thanks for the comments BR(S) And Graham

The lighting pelmet had been fitted but has since been removed as i wasnt happy with it.

Recently i have been concentrating on the electrical side of things.

I am really pleased with the slow action cobalt point motors but not so impressed with polarity side of it. So i decided to wire up hex frog juicers to them instead and it has made a huge difference. Next was to tidy the wiring and glue in place so i could then tackle the wiring and power for the Dapol semaphore and after a few hours i was happy enough that it looked neat enough and more so that it all worked fine.

Today has seen weekend engineering work take place.

I had noticed during the week that one of the magnets for the kadees had started to lift at the end of the 3way point.

So while swmbo was at work i removed a short section of track cleared the hole out and refitted the magnet

Magnet glued back into place and new track work installed

Had a great couple of hours at the chatham show yesterday helping Ian (Temeraire) on tidworth with Mike (scoobra) and graham (shanks522).

I managed to grab a couple bits while i was there i picked up an 8pin zimo decoder for the 33 which on closer inspection yesterday had to be stripped down and cleaned up as it wouldnt move at all

post-3608-0-35270100-1496695052_thumb.jpg

All is working fine now after agood 45 minute clean

I also picked up some grass tufts which will be spread here there and everywhere on the layout

After talking with Ian and Graham yesterday about the Dapol 73s i have swapped the 2 wires over to get the directional lights the right way round and have blocked the contact for the cab lights so now looks much better when in use.

Hi Stuart

Thanks for your help yesterday and I'll give you call if I'm in your neck of the woods again. Not had a go at the pick ups yet then? ;)

Hello Stuart,

Firstly I love your layout, Great atmosphere about it.

"I am really pleased with the slow action cobalt point motors but not so impressed with polarity side of it."

Just wondering about the comment re the cobalts. I need to make a decision on Point motors as lots of reviews point to the Cobalts being the best but I was wondering what is the issue your having with the Polarity switching. Are they not reliable mechanically wise for your liking?

Thanks

George

Hi George

I cant say that it is anything in particular my 37 and 33 havent had any problems running over the points but my 08 kept stalling i thought with the cobalts and code 75 trackwork that it would work out fine but no.

I had the tam valley frog juicers and tried one out and it was huge improvement so i fitted the rest and my 08 now crawls over all of it.

Sorry i couldnt be more helpful

This evening i have been playing around in the yard area i have started to add some of the grass tufts and have been playing around with some weathering powders on the tarmac crossing.

I am also looking at the loading bay i think that it is abit to big for the type of siding. Im looking at maybe just turning it into a permanent way yard now.

I have taken the roof off to try and get an idea of what it is im trying to achieve. I have been going through countless books to get as many pictures as possible to work to.

Test area on the crossing

Morning Graham the powders are Tamiya

I have thought about a disused look shed but this is me we are talking about ;)

I just feel that the area needs to be open but there will be plenty of clutter laying around and im going to put a building in the open space at the back i just dont want to over fill it i feel this way it wont close the whole scene in and keep abit of length to it

Thanks Stuart, I have an 08 myself, runs nice but track has to be dead level as no doubt you have found out and some 75 to lay so we will see how I get on in a few months time. I appreciate the reply.

Have a lovely weekend.

Regards

George.

Few hours in the loft today but nothing has been done really except running stock.

Being sunday and most engineering work is carried out over the weekend i have fitted the cable between the 2 ends of the 3rd rail by the station
