Sorry for those that came to Ely model railway exhibition expecting to see my layout for its very first exhibition. Unfortunately we could not make it due to being rushed to hospital the day before for a unexpected heart valve operation. Massive shock and only now back home. Hopefully Aviemore will be at next years exhibition.

I must also say Ely model railway club have been a great support through this time and understanding. Great club and friends.

Your close-up shot of the coaling stage shows all of the imperfections in my Modelling. The stonework paint colour needs toning down - trouble is how?

Terry it is pretty good but it is a small area i am not too worried about. i do have a dirt wash that may help it.

Whilst I had a small run with Aviemore I have decided the backscene needs to be reduced and fixed better. Unfortunately the damp has got to the backscene surprisingly even during the heat we have had. Still need a little motivation to finish installing the signals and smarting up a few areas.

Anyway here are a few pictures I took to cheer me up.

Neil, it’s disappointing that the back scene has suffered from the damp. Perhaps, one of the Thursday crew will have to learn how to paint a suitable back scene or organise a competition amongst the club’s membership. It is a talent which we need to develop n the club.

I wonder whether any readers of your blog could offer some advice.

Well with some great help off the n gauge forum I had taken a series of photos I had help getting the backscene stitched together and use the excellent service of art-printers to sort out the finished product. Whilst the foamex finally turned up today I thought I would have a trial fit to see where I need to trim and see what it would look like. I only got two sheets up and now looking at what is best to fix the poly paper to the foamex. Hopefully everyone will see the difference.

Neil,

Love the new photos for your backscene, the colour tone is nicely done to give the feel of distance. Good luck with the glueing process, hope what every you chose provides adjustment time. It's a fiddly job.

Thankyou carl I am dreading getting this to work. I am in the process of moving the layout indoors for the winter months so more can be done.

Hope you enjoy Milton Keynes and had a good nought last night (sure mike and nick did too).

Well whilst preparations have been made for the layout to come inside from the damp wagon. I am finally getting time to model some coaches for the layout that will go on the Aviemore to criagellachie local.

I have also made a small shopping list to help touch up even more areas I am not happy with. It never ends.

Well finally Christmas is out the way and I have got time to work on each board individually. I have not done anything for a while and have been spending time painting figures for little scenes. Hopefully these ad interest. Any ideas gratefully received. The next job is to fit the new turntable which will be interesting.

Had a wee play with some photos of Aviemore and have installed the new working turntable. I have ordered some fine etching of railings for the deck and some highland bufferstops. Only small problem is finding instructions to how these should be put together. I am looking for some photos of highland bufferstops to help but don’t find many people take these sort of photos
