  1. It looked a treat Pete, and even attracted a time-travelling visitor

  2. There's storms a-brewin' for sure Mikkel! Thanks, I really like the new sidebar. I was inspired to update my blog by the way yours looked so nice

  3. Great to see the construction details, which reminds me of things I did a very long time ago. I agree with others that your graphics set a new level for design presentation. My original layout lay 'fallow' for rather a long time and, to prevent damage, I boxed it in with an overall lid. The sides of this box subsequently provided the opportunity to add backscenes that were automatically higher than the highest parts of the layout. I even have an easily removable transparent front, so that I can 'safely' demonstrate operations to a 3 year-old Grandson

  4. The bare chassis will get over at speed on DC, once the metal body is on it's a bit better, but with only one wheel set in contact with live rail it's a bit hit and miss LOL. When I go DCC I'll invest in a large(ish) stay alive

  5. Lovely stuff Pete. It goes without saying but, as ever, your presentation and design is superb. Glad the show was successful.

  6. Pleased it worked out well. That moment when a loco steadily & smoothly ran in after we'd resoldered the crossing and rewired the switches was very satisfying.

  7. Even with the amount of compression you've had to do, that is instantly reconnisable as a place on my way to school, 1971-75.. Wonderful modelling..

  8. Looks like it all came together in the end Pete and you had good show. Cracking photos and glad Kylie was well received and ran well. Think the MILW F Unit looked good by the way! Think you better get a suit case full of tour t-shirts printed for the next show...

  9. Ooooh, a T-shirt! I bet people seeing it from the back will go home and Google the famous rock band Kyle of Lochalsh The layout looks good. I like the front lit shots, as they show up detail I hadn't noticed before. But I can see how that won't work so well normally, you don't want to light up the backscene too much.

  10. Ah, that's an excellent idea (hanging it on the wall). I must remember that. I was in Ikea yesterday and tried to guess what other boxes you had bought. But I will have to wait and see :-)

  11. A wonderful retrospective view, Mike. And now we know the origins of Amy Wilmcote! I like the look of the "James" loco. Do you still have that?

  12. This is moving along quickly. I like the visual effect of the "lines" (not sure what the correct English word is!). The man hole covers etc are a nice final touch.
