  3. Nothing special, really, Steve. Railmatch Frame Dirt and Weathered Black, MIG Productions Dark Wash and Ammo by Mig Black pigment. Enamels airbrushed on then worked with a wide flat shader and a comb brush to get the vertical streaking while the wash was still slightly damp. The wash had been applied to all of the grilles to highlight the detail.

  4. Spray cans benefit from shaking atleast twice as long as they recommend, and lying down for an hour on a warm radiator. And then another shake... (warm, not super-hot, your significant other is unlikely to be impressed with a green fan on the end of the radiator and the adjacent wall, even if it is the exact prototypical shade for your specific loco on the precise day in September 1904 that you’re modelling) atb Simon

  8. I remember Pam Ayres saying, "When I saw Bruce Springsteen for the first time I couldn't wait to throw my husband out with the rest of the rubbish!" Here in Gloucester I have two friends who write in the same vein as her - and I have to admit they are both brilliant at it. Re: the Westerns; yes, 'Enterprise' plates were larger; I'd forgotten that until reading about it again only very recently. I always enjoy looking at your photos, especially when they feature Westerns. Steve.
