  1. Yes, and the film is extremely well made too, I think. At first I thought all those accolades on the title screen were humorously meant, but after watching it I can see why it has attracted attention as a documentary in its own right.

  2. @Mikkel, thanks for posting that documentary. What a sad but ultimately marvellous story!

  3. That looks a lot like the scenes outside Audley Range School, filmed by the famed Mitchell & Kenyon film team.

  4. Totally agree Mark. My favourite is the BR Brake van which is in the lockdown draw along with some Lanarkshire bits and bobs ready to go!! Cheers, Dave

  5. Very nice job mate, the door can be tricky but looking at the job you’ve done with the window surrounds it shouldn’t be a problem

  6. Thankyou WV, They've been another fun project and really help you develop your skills no matter how many of the kits you've built. I think Dapol keeping these kits available and selling the un-decorated RTR wagons is to be applauded. In these difficult times you can look no further than a Dapol kit as a quick project to lift the spirits. Cheers, Mark

  7. That's a nice little project going on there. Very neat ballasting too and I've think you've got it spot on! Best regards and stay safe, Jeremy

  8. These really are superb Mark. I like your style of modelling! Dapol kits are still brilliant! their simplicity eased my return to the hobby then sustained my interest through more sophisticated improvements. They appeal to the beginner and the expert! Nicely done.

  9. Nice and subtle in the Dapol camp I remember that shade of plastic too. It's a good value model and a quick detailing project. Look forwards to seeing how things progress. Cheers, Mark

  11. Someone is trying to tell me something as I received my unpainted version today and it's pinky red. It was grey on the website. Really like how easily the body/roof/chassis come apart for the detailing though.

  12. Just wanted to share this great find that @Methuselah has made on Google Earth. It shows the two-storey stable block of Birmingham Hockley on the right (sic), still largely intact. Even the ramp for horses to access the upper floor is still there, now partly rebuilt as stairs. Note: Compare it with this period photo of the very same scene on the Warwickshire Railways site: https://www.warwickshirerailways.com/gwr/gwrhd682.htm And a bit closer: Google Earth coordinates : 52°29'27.00"N 1°55'20.13"W Google Streetview: https://www.google.com/maps/@52.4911121,-1.9233583,3a,75y,289.59h,91.09t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sCCuHTWbNZiB9gRsprkpRaA!2e0!7i13312!8i6656 Many thanks to Methusaleh for sharing his find!

  13. Great stuff, Job! I actually felt sadness when I read about the school closure Little by little and in different ways you are building the narrative - and physical evidence - of a whole world of its own. On the subject of creating worlds, I recently revisited some of the fantastic work of Michael Paul Smith. You have probably seen it on the web. His Flickr account is here. There is also a nice documentary made (below). After watching it he is no longer just "the guy who makes cool model cameos", but a real person. Sadly he has now passed away, a good thing the documentary was made.

  14. Thanks for the nice complement. Actually it's because Miss Shaw is celebrating that's she is a teacher for 25 years at the school. See the article in The Middleshire Magazine for Local History.

  15. Beautiful buildings Job, very convincing and neatly made. When I saw the toilet block in your last post I looked forward to the main school building, and it is very impressive. The windows and glazing work really well. I wonder what the special occasion is? A class outing perhaps?
