cheers, Bodmin any good?

Bodmin, well for those of use who know certain (qualified) people, Bodmin could be said to be the roughest town in Cornwall,

yup , worse than St Austell, or even Newlyn which has a pub or two with serious reputations - I live just round the corner....

Well, a great first day, we really did have a lovely time, even if one of our ops has Welsh verbal diarrhoea.

Because the three Welsh lads helping me decided to bring their wives down too, this meant the lads were unable to take advantage of the on-site accommodation, so I had to make alternative arrangements, and as I live just the other side of PZ, somewhere near there!!!!!!

Well, The Union Hotel PZ did me a special rate, great meal Friday night and great company from the owner and staff and regulars, all meant a very convivial evening with some nice ales.......

After the show on Saturday I had booked 10 places at a local Indian place in PZ - http://www.purelypen...eaway_menu.html - they don't sell alcohol, but Marc's Superstore across the road does, strange really as 'Little India' and Marc's are owned by the same family.......

Then back to The Union Hotel where, for those of us who like New Orleans style jazz, a few friends of mine were playing... for the 0.00001% of people on RMweb who may heard of the late Dan Pawson, this became a tribute evening to his memory, his wife was there to calibrate that they had married 45 years ago. A wonderful evening of laid back ensemble jazz - nothing to do with Model Railways, but some very happy wives ( I understand the odd promise? was likely to be fulfilled too, great at our age!!!!) - I'm just hoping their decision to come along to our remaining list of exhibitions doesn't catch on though.

Meanwhile, I hope everybody else there is having a good time - Great to see so many RMwebbers at the show, and CK too!!

Back this evening after a great weekend with the Matford team. I didn't get to take many photos, but here's some of three layouts. First, Diesels in the Duchy:

And (of course, not really biased) some of Matford - not in Chris Nevard's league but a record of what could be its last appearance in this form (including some of the 'Dawlish Donkey' specials):

On behalf of the Falmouth & District MRC, I would like to thank everyone involved with this year's exhibition, including all our visitors without whom the show would not be possible.

Very many thanks to Nigel and his team from the F&DMRC for giving our lot a very enjoyable weekend. You all looked after us very well indeed. It's always so nice to do a 'friendly' show.

The exhibition was of excellent quality and we often overheard punter's comments to this effect.

.........I'm now in recovery mode!

Just back from the far west having stayed on with friends for a few days following the excellent Truro show. We would like to add our thanks to the F&DMRC for looking after us so well and making it such an enjoyable weekend.

I didn't take many snaps but have put a couple here and a load more of Highbury in my thread here

Thank you for organising such a wonderful show. I'm just back from holiday in Cornwall, and was allowed time away from the beach to visit the show. Great to see so many friends there, the exhibition guide reads like a list of my favourite layouts!

I brought a friend who has only a passing interest and he was VERY impressed.

Many thanks,

Dave.T

PS Do you have a date for next year yet?

Thank you Dave for your comments and I'm pleased to hear that you and your friend enjoyed your visit so much. As to next year, I believe that it will be the equivalent weekend to this year, given that 2012 is a leap year it is likely to be August 18th/19th. The reason I cannot be specific is that I have retired from the post of exhibition manager, so it is now a matter for the club to appoint my successor. Keep an eye on our websites for further information.
