6029 King Stephen
I have taken three shots on my iPhone 4S but I cannot upload them because they are between 2.8 - 3.4mb in size and the limit for uploading is 2mb. How do I compress them so that they are small enough to upload? Regards, Steve

david65061
Dear Steve I up load my pictures in to paint use the stretch/scew command on the image menu. The picture is then reduced by putting a number less than 100 in to the stretch horizontal and vertical boxes. The image can then be resaved with a different name and it is suitable for uploading. I use 13% both horizontally and vertically to reduce the image. The size of the picture in paint is pretty much the size it will appear on RM web. This is a really easy process, much easier than it sounds while reading this. David
Grasslands
another method to the same goal is to download Gimp (http://www.gimp.org/) and open the picture in Gimp and then press 'Export' and select a quality around the 30ish mark (it will even tell you the output size of the file as you move the slider between 1-100). Theakerr
I e-mail them to myself from i-photo using the i-photo protocol to downsize them. Then save the smaller files to a temp folder on desktop. I know there are better ways out there but this is simple, it works and I dont have to waste modelling time learning a new piece of software

RMweb Gold martin_wynne Posted October 4, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 4, 2013 I have taken three shots on my iPhone 4S but I cannot upload them because they are between 2.8 - 3.4mb in size and the limit for uploading is 2mb. How do I compress them so that they are small enough to upload? Hi Steve, RMweb has its very own Image Editor for the purpose. Click this button at the top of every page: Here's how to use it: 1. click this: 2.Find the picture on your computer and click on it: It will open in the editor. 3. If you wish you can add a copyright notice, or any other text or mark-up. Click the A button on the left and add your text in the box which appears: 4. Click Image size in the Image menu: 5. Set the required size in the box which appears. 800 x 600 is good for general pics: 6. Click Save... in the File menu: 7. Choose My Computer as the destination. If it is a photo from a camera, choose JPEG as the format. Slide the Quality compression control until the image size shows as less than about 250KB. Click OK: 8. You can then choose where you want to save it on your computer. And finally upload it to RMweb: Martin.
Peter Kazmierczak
Irfan View is another easy one to use, available as a free download. I take a copy of the original and use that as the image to be resized smaller. Keep the original in a larger format as you might want to print it out or view the picture in greater clarity. RMweb Gold martin_wynne Posted October 5, 2013 RMweb Gold Share Posted October 5, 2013 Mine just appear the right size without doing owt! I thought RMweb must have some auto-fit type of thingy If the image size is less than about 4000 x 3000 pixels (dots) and the file size is less than 2MB, RMweb will resize them for you. However, many cameras nowadays take pictures which exceed these limits, so it is necessary to reduce them before uploading. If the file size is more than 2MB, it won't upload. If the image size is more than about 4000 x 3000, the server memory needed for resampling (resizing) will exceed the PHP script init_mem limit. Martin.
