Clean up

If you were watching earlier, they put a sidebooom on the far end of a car that was sideways to pick it up and then had the backhoe use its boom to keep the car upright. The sideboom rotated the car parallel to the tracks. One more sideboom came up, and was put on th ecorner opposite the first sideboom and the two picked up the auto rack and walked away with it. The then used the backhoe to drag the Ford that had fallen out of that railcar, after bringing up a side boom so they could use the torch on the sideboom to cut away som metal that was keeping the Ford from being dragged.

Fun fact for anyone who's interested in the slang.  Railroaders call those things "sidewinders".

As for the clean-up crews themselves, from all the stories I've been told by older guys, they're damn near magic.  Doesn't matter where you are when you get on the ground, they show up practically before you can even call the dispatcher about it.  Unload the bulldozers and plow a path through ANYTHING to get to the tracks.  It's kind of insane.

It is Burlington NORTHERN Santa Fe.

Sometimes they will assemble several panels and then move the assemble panels into place, a 78 or 120 ft panel instead of a 39 ft panel.

For the last 10 years it has been the B N S F Railway. There is a comment in the Dec Trains about the name.
