sjgardiner
An update, not quite finished, but the finish line is in sight. You can read more about what i've done on my blog, and a couple of pictures are below: Blog Entry - https://sjgardiner.wordpress.com/2017/01/22/talyllyn-takes-shape/ Cheers, Stephen 12
bertiedog
Got a second one myself, from a friend in Canada. No news yet on the other loco coming to the US. Both the Skarloey locos now have smokebox fronts and handrails, but the cylinders are left as is for the moment. One is being painted black, one red. Both are now run in and work fine, if worked together the haulage is very good! Crew all painted, and will be fitted next, with a "slimline" backhead made in brass to fit the cab. Four coaches are being worked on as well to go with them, plus some L&B stock. Stephen
Popular Post sjgardiner
And Finished: Sometime when i've either built a little diorama or find someone with an OO9/HOn30 Layout i can run it on, I'll post some pictures/video of it running. From it's humble beginnings, this makes a very nice locomotive. I hope everyone else who has bought a Bachmann Skarloey to convert has their project go as well as mine. I've linked to my blog with a bigger gallery of completed pictures and the previous posts i made on my conversion: https://sjgardiner.wordpress.com/2017/01/29/talyllyn-photo-gallery/ For those wondering, I didn't install the Narrow Planet Cylinders and motion. I don't have a great deal of experience soldering, and rather than do something that I can't undo in trying to assemble that kit, I've kept it aside, and somewhere down the road when i feel my skills have hit the right point, i can install the more to scale cylinders and metal motion. RMweb Gold Ryde-on-time Posted February 17, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 17, 2017 Looks like the small diesel 'Rusty' has been announced as the next loco in the Bachmann ttte narrow gauge range http://www.bachmanntrains.com/home-usa/board/index.php/topic,33240.0.html
RMweb Gold Corbs Posted February 18, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted February 18, 2017 Midlander, then! IIRC it's a fairly standard Ruston design? Could be useful for lots of 009 modellers.
ExplosiveCookie
Yeah, they'll probably be doing Midlander pre-rebuild, seeing as that's what Rusty is. In other news - Rheneas has been on display at a toy fair the past few days, first pictures of him. Apparently shipping at the end of March.

hartleymartin
I hope that Rheneas will be dimensionally accurate too. I imagine that the OO9 society is thrilled as it will also give them another good mechanism for projects.

RMweb Gold Corbs Posted August 28, 2017 RMweb Gold Share Posted August 28, 2017 Does anyone know if a re-run of 'Skarloey' is planned? It seems that most stocks have now dried up.

It seems that most stocks have now dried up.I would strongly say so,they know what a big seller it is so why not milk this cash cow?
rockershovel
Between these two, Bachmsnn's Baldwin 4-6-0, the Minitrains Baldwin 2-6-2 and Brigadelok 0-8-0 and, as I've recently discovered, the latest version of the Lilliput 0-6-2 and the Heljan MW, has there ever been so much choice in 009 rtr? You have not included the Fourdees Range of RTR 009 locos in your list! Pricey but worth a look, The Bachmann/Liliput ZB 0-6-2T is actually H0e which is 3.5mm to the foot, but not that you would notice too much, theres also ROCO H0e to consider as well 3 or 4 locos in their range ( Check out Manchester Model Shop they currently list quite a useful 0-6-0T at around £68)

RMweb Gold PaulRhB Posted August 29, 2017 Author RMweb Gold Share Posted August 29, 2017 (edited) It was put back to third quarter so in theory they are due anytime now. Just checked my emails and Steve at Tootally said due 3rd but usually means 4th quarter. Edited August 29, 2017 by PaulRhB
