  1. Afternoon Peeps

Railex was an excellent day out yesterday nice to see so many Webbers including Dudds I could not get Ascombes attention :preved: she was perched up in the balcony I think she had

enough and wanted to go I'm sure Ian got his ears(or other parts) bent later............

Yes, it's not really on the same level as repertory theatre or am-dram.... :jester:

Ian is supportive of my theatre commitments - he actually is a steward on the Front of House team - and my church attendance. In return, I encourage his interest in racing and model railways. In fact, before heading for the spectators’ gallery, I told him he could spend as long as he wished browsing the exhibits. It gave me the chance to rest my arthritic joints.

  2. When ever I’ve seen a shop assistant called ‘Pat’ who is wearing a badge on her blouse with her name on, however tempting it is, I’ve always resisted the temptation to comply with her request!

A friend of mine named Pat became so bored with the number of guys who thought they were being original and amusing by asking if they could, that she had her badge changed to say Patricia.

  3. The call was from Sherry's then-husband, PhD and all. Their daughter had rung him the night before to impart her fear that her mum was with me. Sherry proved that was not the case to his satisfaction. But the confrontation caused her to think where her future lay, and decided it was with me. I had been widowed a couple of years before. We have yet to regret her choice.

Our story began at school where we were vaguely acquainted. If it were to be adapted for TV, it would not be believed. Friends United has much for which to answer!

  4. Certainly the best race this year but overshadowed by the woman's netball final.

Ooh, Ray! I'd need to take one of my tablets before watching that!

One woman is more than enough for you; 14 would overwhelm you!

  5. I'm off to Morrisons tonight. Wish me luck.................

........ As someone said earlier, it's about having a management team who care, and who make sure the little things don't get messed up. No-one really wants to be there, so if they can make it as painless as possible, all to the good.

Ian and I are very happy with our experience of shopping in Lidl on both sides of the Channel.

In Torquay, the branch has the biggest turnover of any branch in the UK. As I often visit the store early in the morning I witness the shelf stacking by the employees, who all seem very good humoured, and the oversight of the plans for the day being shared by the Manager with other members of staff. All seem to have a sense of purpose and the check out cashiers are also

    polite and friendly.

Good products, fair prices and a motivated workforce appear to be a recipe for success.

  6. My daughter is a DH at a school in Staffordshire where recently they organised a day for Y6 children from half a dozen schools to meet for various activities. A few months ago Tesco agreed to supply a bag of “goodies” for each participant. By the preceding week, none had been delivered so my daughter spent much time being passed from one member of staff to another without satisfaction and as the event was last Monday, this encroached on her weekend, too. At the eleventh hour, Tesco delivered the items but not all to the right school. Only when my daughter suggested that adverse publicity could result if they didn’t fulfill their commitment, did the wheels get put into motion.
