  1. Q4 - Take 5 was written and sax played by Paul Desmond - it is unusual rather than unique as iit is in 5/4 time Q5 Round Midnight, What's New, and For Sentimental Reasons were all recorded by Linda Rondstadt accompanied by Nelson Riddle and his orchestra (I only had to go to my CD collection for the answer to this one - strict alphabetical so took about ten seconds) Q9 It was a black Fender Strat, owned once by Pink FLoyd's Dave Gilmour
  2. Superb weathering, Dave, something I never mastered
  3. Drat - just pipped with You Light Up My Life - LaAnn Rymes so instead If You Leave Me Now - Chicago
  4. Street Life - Randy Crawford
  5. Nah - THIS is a serious tank loco
  6. So much for that - 30747 woke up and "suggested" that we go to the dump (needed), and "as it's so close to the A6, and the Milnthorpe charity shops, we might as well kill three birds with one stone". So instead of getting up at 8.30 and getting on with tasks domestic, we got up at 7.30, got to the dump for opening, then the A6 took another hour, then the charity shops another half, then home - and it was "suggested" that I "might" like to sort out the cupboards under the sink, to make it easier to move things when the move finally happens - so a good sort out of the bottles, put them into plastic stacker boxes, and scrub the cupboard floor. Wow, what an exciting life I lead since I retired. Afternoon All Well that's it for today, as the computer is, apparent;y wanted for other tasks. Not all posts read, and therefore cannot comment on the happenings - however, the usual greetings are offered to all celebrating or ailing ERs. Regards to All Stewart
  7. I paid £2.20 for a portion of chips, and £1.50 for a Saveloy a couple of nights ago while staying away - add a fish cake and a sausage (we half the saveloy, 30747 has the fish cake, and I have the sausage - and a carton of peas - no change from 8 quid. Chip shop is quite dear now, and two portions of fish and chips with frozen peas, and frozen chips in Morrisons cafe set us back 11 quid the following night, and a pot of tea and a small soft drink added a further £3.
  8. Afternoon All Absence due to a house hunting visit, which MAY have been successful - offers have been made on two properties, (not a practice which I normally follow, but given the amount of sharp practice going on in the market at the moment, I have no qualms about doing so). NOw awaiting responses from vendors. So other than being hotel bound for a few days, and with only 30 minutes of wi fi each day unless I paid some extortionate fee, house hunting and emails have had to take priority. So generic greetings are on offer now to all celebrating and ailing. No A6 tomorrow, as too much going on at home. Regards to All Stewart
  9. Locked Up In Jail (Prison Blues) - John Lee Hooker
  10. The Eyes Of Mars - - Franz Ferdinand
  11. Evening All Just using up the last few minutes of my free wi-fi in the hotel, and normal service will be resumed tomorrow. Just a few minutes le
  12. Summer In The City - Lovin' Spoonful
  13. Afternoon All Three days running, all posts read - and as usual, the warmest of greetings to fellow ERs. Visited the twice yearly Arnside car boot - saw most of the same people as yesterday at A6 - but two sellers had boxes of railway books, and one had, I think, stocked up by buying a lot of my less interesting stock in instalments, as they all appeared to be titles that I own or used to own - the other had much the same sort of stuff, but in a box marked "Railway Books in this box £3 each" - I found Ivo Peters' "The Somerset and Dorset in the Fifties Vols 1 and 2", and the seller accepted £3 the pair - bargain methinks. Then home and a lot of tidying of the garden to sort out what's going, what's staying, and what's for the tip. The first of these won by a couple of lengths. Regards to All Stewart
  14. Funky Moped - Jasper Carrott
  15. Afternoon All Yet again, all posts read - two days running!!! Still a few missing ERs - hope all is well with them. I just had a PM from Geoff (Ohmisterporter) so I know that he is well and reading ERs. And greetings are, as ever, proferred to all fellow ERs whether ailing, celebrating, or just enjoying the bank holiday weekend. I was a true ER this morning - up at 6 to be at the PACKED with sellers A6 car boot - they were turning sellers away by 7.30 and bought ................. absolutely nothing at all. Arnside car boot tomorrow - hopefully a bit less crowded. We have been vac packing clothes and bedding this morning, and found it most odd that having done so, and reduced the volume of many bags of stuff by 50%, we still had LESS room than we did before. Now for sheer irony, and possibly truth, here is the latest offering from the Mona Lisa twins, who have, IMHO really hit the nail on the head with this one. See if you agree. Regards to All Stewart
  16. As did Lancaster's last week - Sunday
  17. Afternoon All All posts read - no honestly they are. Not a lot to report, and not a lot of mojo at the moment. So it's the usual greetings (generic). One slight bright spot. While away, we visited the big antique centre in Leominster, the one which is also always on the TV antique shows, and just happens to be managed by Bargain Hunt expert, Ben Cooper. They have a book room there which is quite small, and with a little section of railway books - normally quite pricey. However, there was a copy of "Class 50s In Operation" by David Clough, and out of print for a while. Priced at £10.95, I thought it a bit steep when I bought it but, hey was I wrong when I checked Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Class-50s-Operation-David-Clough/dp/0711029717/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=class+50s+in+operation&qid=1630164734&sr=8-2 Regards to All Stewart
  18. Ditto for the wheels within wheels etc described in Ezekiel - these were propounded by some to be grounded UFOs - Erich Von Daniken was one of the great supporters of this sort of theory (God was an astronaut).
  19. Afternoon All Sorry I've been AWOL,, but I have had an acceptable offer in the house, and have, as a result, been down to do some viewings in Hereford and Worcester.which were no good at all - though one was an outside possibility, which we will go back to next week to have another look. We have also managed to arrange a few more. Coming back yesterday was an absolute nightmare, as there were delays on the M6 round Preston - but before gtetting there we were just leaving the A49 to join the M56, and saw a mass of stationary traffic on the Eastbound and nothing at all coming West - so we went right round the roundabout, and rejoined the a49 to head for the M6 North of Warrington - just as well, as there was an accident on the West, and of course that also meant that the East was gummed up too. Got home well over an hour late - and missed the kennels to pick up Lily. So all I can offer is greetings to all and sundry. Regards to All Stewart
  20. Try this for size - this IMHO actually beats Phil and Don out of the park - this band is now one of my favourites world wide - but hey, due respect to the original
  21. It has crossed has my mind, but with the sale so dependent on their co-operation, 30747 has vetod such an action - however, I still think that £100 per view that I did will be "suggested" a bit nearer to completion.
  22. Blind Blake's Rag - Ralph McTell
  23. Afternoon All All posts read - for the first time for a week or so. And nice to read some of Flavio's take on things again - but there do also appear to be a few familiar names missing in action - hurry back. And greetings are proferred as usual to all who are ailing, otherwise suffering, or celebrating. Jamie, it sounds as though you may have got off lightly with your lurgy, let's hope so. There is no doubt at all in my mind that without the vaccine, we would all now be up sh*t creek - so how the USA can countenance the behaviour of those who wish to excercise their "freedom", is beyond me. I honestly beieve that vaccination should become compulsory on a world wide basis once adequate supplies of a proven, working vaccine are available. Well, the missing adaptor turned up - about two hours after I had decided that it had probably been disposed off - it was in a bag of stuff that 30747 had got out to add to the vac bags, then had decided to leave until today, and had scooped them all back into the bag along with the adaptor. Of course, this was still my fault, even though it was she who scooped and bagged - because "you should have waited till we'd checked everywhere before ordering" (hang on there - I didn't even know about the offending bag of stuff, but it was still my fault). So I've emailed Vax customer service in the hope that it's not too late to cancel the order. We've now vac packed about six bags of clothes and ordered some more vac pack bags as they do seem to work. It should now be cider o'clock, but on going to the fridge, I seem to be out if it - DOH, and I'm not paying Co-op or local shop prices - I will get stocked up again tomorrow morning. Second viewing of the house tomorrow at 1.30 - as usual, Estate Agent can't make it, so 30747 will have to finish work early, and come home to look after the dog while I do the viewing - current score is Estate Agent 4, 45156 9. Regards to All Stewart
