  5. Afternoon All Three days running, all posts read - and as usual, the warmest of greetings to fellow ERs. Visited the twice yearly Arnside car boot - saw most of the same people as yesterday at A6 - but two sellers had boxes of railway books, and one had, I think, stocked up by buying a lot of my less interesting stock in instalments, as they all appeared to be titles that I own or used to own - the other had much the same sort of stuff, but in a box marked "Railway Books in this box £3 each" - I found Ivo Peters' "The Somerset and Dorset in the Fifties Vols 1 and 2", and the seller accepted £3 the pair - bargain methinks. Then home and a lot of tidying of the garden to sort out what's going, what's staying, and what's for the tip. The first of these won by a couple of lengths. Regards to All Stewart
  6. Funky Moped - Jasper Carrott
  7. Afternoon All Yet again, all posts read - two days running!!! Still a few missing ERs - hope all is well with them. I just had a PM from Geoff (Ohmisterporter) so I know that he is well and reading ERs. And greetings are, as ever, proferred to all fellow ERs whether ailing, celebrating, or just enjoying the bank holiday weekend. I was a true ER this morning - up at 6 to be at the PACKED with sellers A6 car boot - they were turning sellers away by 7.30 and bought ................. absolutely nothing at all. Arnside car boot tomorrow - hopefully a bit less crowded. We have been vac packing clothes and bedding this morning, and found it most odd that having done so, and reduced the volume of many bags of stuff by 50%, we still had LESS room than we did before. Now for sheer irony, and possibly truth, here is the latest offering from the Mona Lisa twins, who have, IMHO really hit the nail on the head with this one. See if you agree. Regards to All Stewart
  8. As did Lancaster's last week - Sunday
  9. Afternoon All All posts read - no honestly they are. Not a lot to report, and not a lot of mojo at the moment. So it's the usual greetings (generic). One slight bright spot. While away, we visited the big antique centre in Leominster, the one which is also always on the TV antique shows, and just happens to be managed by Bargain Hunt expert, Ben Cooper. They have a book room there which is quite small, and with a little section of railway books - normally quite pricey. However, there was a copy of "Class 50s In Operation" by David Clough, and out of print for a while. Priced at £10.95, I thought it a bit steep when I bought it but, hey was I wrong when I checked Amazon https://www.amazon.co.uk/Class-50s-Operation-David-Clough/dp/0711029717/ref=sr_1_2?dchild=1&keywords=class+50s+in+operation&qid=1630164734&sr=8-2 Regards to All Stewart
  10. Ditto for the wheels within wheels etc described in Ezekiel - these were propounded by some to be grounded UFOs - Erich Von Daniken was one of the great supporters of this sort of theory (God was an astronaut).
  11. Afternoon All Sorry I've been AWOL,, but I have had an acceptable offer in the house, and have, as a result, been down to do some viewings in Hereford and Worcester.which were no good at all - though one was an outside possibility, which we will go back to next week to have another look. We have also managed to arrange a few more. Coming back yesterday was an absolute nightmare, as there were delays on the M6 round Preston - but before gtetting there we were just leaving the A49 to join the M56, and saw a mass of stationary traffic on the Eastbound and nothing at all coming West - so we went right round the roundabout, and rejoined the a49 to head for the M6 North of Warrington - just as well, as there was an accident on the West, and of course that also meant that the East was gummed up too. Got home well over an hour late - and missed the kennels to pick up Lily. So all I can offer is greetings to all and sundry. Regards to All Stewart
  12. Try this for size - this IMHO actually beats Phil and Don out of the park - this band is now one of my favourites world wide - but hey, due respect to the original
  13. It has crossed has my mind, but with the sale so dependent on their co-operation, 30747 has vetod such an action - however, I still think that £100 per view that I did will be "suggested" a bit nearer to completion.
  14. Blind Blake's Rag - Ralph McTell
  15. Afternoon All All posts read - for the first time for a week or so. And nice to read some of Flavio's take on things again - but there do also appear to be a few familiar names missing in action - hurry back. And greetings are proferred as usual to all who are ailing, otherwise suffering, or celebrating. Jamie, it sounds as though you may have got off lightly with your lurgy, let's hope so. There is no doubt at all in my mind that without the vaccine, we would all now be up sh*t creek - so how the USA can countenance the behaviour of those who wish to excercise their "freedom", is beyond me. I honestly beieve that vaccination should become compulsory on a world wide basis once adequate supplies of a proven, working vaccine are available. Well, the missing adaptor turned up - about two hours after I had decided that it had probably been disposed off - it was in a bag of stuff that 30747 had got out to add to the vac bags, then had decided to leave until today, and had scooped them all back into the bag along with the adaptor. Of course, this was still my fault, even though it was she who scooped and bagged - because "you should have waited till we'd checked everywhere before ordering" (hang on there - I didn't even know about the offending bag of stuff, but it was still my fault). So I've emailed Vax customer service in the hope that it's not too late to cancel the order. We've now vac packed about six bags of clothes and ordered some more vac pack bags as they do seem to work. It should now be cider o'clock, but on going to the fridge, I seem to be out if it - DOH, and I'm not paying Co-op or local shop prices - I will get stocked up again tomorrow morning. Second viewing of the house tomorrow at 1.30 - as usual, Estate Agent can't make it, so 30747 will have to finish work early, and come home to look after the dog while I do the viewing - current score is Estate Agent 4, 45156 9. Regards to All Stewart
  16. Well we did that - it's not there - we also checked all the rubbish bags, and it's not there either - a mystery. One now ordered from the Vax website - cost £1.99, postage £2.99 - it'll now turn up in the most unexpected place.
  17. Afternoon All Sorry, but I've not read all posts, But as usual, the best of greetings are proffered to all fellow Ers. Chrisf - sorry to read of the numbers - no doubt your Professor Onclologist will have a stategy for tackling the cancer with you. Jamie - hope you are able to get out soon. Tigerburnie - nice picture, and don't be to disappointed that it is the "same one", as it is also a very nice "same one" and is a triumph that it exists at all - I have only seen and stood on the footplate of 60163 once, and then thought I'd never see a Peppercorn A1 again after seening them quite often on the "Queen of Scots" at Waverley in the 1960s and when I was visiting my aunt in Edinburgh. Today we put a load of clothes into vac bags which are stacked on top of the wardrobe, and when we tidied up, I asked 30747 "where's the hoover adaptor for the bags?" "It was on the bed" "Well it's not now" - there are two different makes of these bags - the larger needs the adaptor, the smaller doesn't. We did the larger ones first, then scooped all the remaining clothes into the smaller ones, and now we can't find the adaptor - I'm guessing and hoping that it has been scooped up with the clothes, and is in one of the small bags. We will have to get them down tomorrow and decant all the clothes. CHichen chow mein now calling. Regards to All Stewart
  18. Try this version - it's just stunning - but onwards with the game Meet On The Ledge - Fairport Convention
  19. A touch of deja vu here, Jim, as I had already been alerted to this video and viewed it on YouTube before I caught up with your thread.
  20. Afternoon All Another lack of mojo excuse - I've got to say that this house selling business is getting me down just a little big bit now - a member of staff who works for the agent handling the sale came round the other day, after his partner had been very impressed the night before - and he implied as he left that he would make an offer for the place - yes, he did, for £17.5k less than the asking price, and that was his final word on it - guess what my answer was. But a very successful viewing by a pleasant young lady solicitor, who now works from home and who wants to come back to have a more thorough look seems a bit more hopeful. Anyhow, I proffer the usual generic greetings, and birthday wishes current and belated. Regards to All Stewart
  21. Just be sure not to book a job for whatever day it might be held on, Colin.
  22. Touch Me In The Morning - DIana Ross
  23. It has to be Your Mother Should Know - them Liverpool Lot
  24. Just an update - the bridge is now complete, and the raiings painted, and Mike has agreed to allow me to post this image from the FB group, copyright is Mike Cave. Track has been part laid and part ballasted as of earlier this week - it makes an amazing railway into an incredible one.
