Any wheel any size!
Wayne Kinney replied to David Bigcheeseplant's topic in 3D Printing, Laser Cutting, CAD & CNC
Nice work! I tried using the black eSun tough and it does seem to work well. I find if they are printed directly on the base plate, there is more chance of warping over a week or so. So I keep them on a raft with supports. Need wheel rims, but they run fairly true: -
Thanks Nick, I've actually also made the rubber mould and waxes for the slips, they are also waiting to be cast. I really want to crack on with these this month, I lost a lot of time in August going away with family and visiting old friends Now time to knuckle down. P.S - Your 00-SF crossover looks great!

Hi Guys, Quick preview on the EM Gauge diamond kit so far. I've made the rubber moulds for the K crossings and waxes are now with the caster to be cast in Nickel Silver. I've taken some pictures of the waxes in situ on the base: It looks like the rails don't align in the above image, but it's just because the base isn't sitting flat on the surface

They will be available from both, but members will get a little extra discount from the 3mm society. Here are a few images, one showing it with one of the society sleeper bases:

Plastic chairs and MEK. Very poor bond.

Martin, do you think the Polypipe could help in bonding resin printed chairs to HIPS timber strip in a similar manner? Polypipe on bottom of 3D printed chairs, then butanone? -
Thanks. The current 2mmFS kits are supplied with a base with predrilled holes and sprues of 'chairs'. The chairs need cutting off the sprue and inserting into the holes on the base one by one. In contrast, the new Finetrax kits includes a timber base with all the chairs pre installed as one piece. It also comes with a pre made cast crossing V/frog and pre machined switch blades with pins already soldered on them, ready to insert into pre drilled holes on the provided tie bar.

Hi Guys, Not 00 related, and I know I've been a little quiet on here lately, but I've been quite busy working on the 2mm Finescale & 3mm test kits: 3x '2mmFS' kits on their way to 3x 2mm Scale Association committee members. Spending the rest of this week on the 3mm scale test kit. Should return to the 00-SF release next week and also continue work on the diamond crossing. Steady progress

It's not possible to make the kit work for both without the timbering being incorrect for the of them. The timbering is different for a crossover vs a single turnout. Even the Streamline has the incorrect track spacing when joined together. It's better to release a dedicated crossover kit, with correct spacing and shared timbers. Obviously that would be an infinite number of combinations, but I plan on making standard and ladder crossover kits, incorporating either a diamond or slip. They are kits, and no doubt a certain amount of trimming/kit bashing maybe required for some formations. Maybe adding separate chairs and timbers into the range would be a good idea?
