  1. For a WWII era train would these have been formed of mixed GWR LMS and LNER wagons common user ?
  2. I'm struggling to find suitable RTR wagons for a ballast train I've seen footage of old ballast being shoved into 3 plank dropside wagons and some photos of 5 plank wagons in use, was this the norm or were department hopper wagons common like the Cambrian catfish kit ?
  3. After initial excitment about the peco track, then being more and more dissapointed with what I was hearing, it looks like Dcc concepts have saved the day
  4. I can't see them producing early loco types that were gone by the grouping, wish they would though, I think some Pre grouping wagons 15' 16' Glos. 1907 types 10 ton coal wagons they could do loads of liveries pre grouping brake vans and for later era we still need a decent midland van, 5 plank open wagon and a NER 20 ton wooden hopper would be nice
  5. Excellent more please makes some of the other RTR manufacturers pre grouping wagons look very dated
  6. If there's enough interest peco will consider making points ! yes let them know larger more realistic points without a kink in the switch rail etc they would sell loads
  7. These are a regular on my local line south of Derby over the last few years and make an interesting train being top and tailed by 2 pairs of class 20s usually in BR livery with tea as barriers but just worked out at over £800 an expensive train to model on My layout and I might need to upgrade my controller
  8. from my early train spotting days in 1980 when I had the WCML in my back garden, I still have my loco shed book so I know what loco's I saw mostly class 81 - 87, a few class 25s 47s a bit boring for locos but always remember the variety of freigth trains and the excitment of hearing a rare diesel coming running down the garden and up the the bank to get the number
  9. A few weeks ago I was waiting for the Hornby 21t hoppers before I made an order thought they must have sold them all to pre orders but not even a photo ? and again today no LMS horsebox, J15, early K1, WW1 troop train perhaps the Kings got something to do with it ?
  10. Can anyone tell me if the loco is correct for the MR livery or have they just applied an early livery on a later modified loco ?
  11. Thanks for that I think the 60ft birdcage coaches were built in 1912 so I assume either the later green or plain grey livery would be correct although it then depends on when the coaches carried the SECR dark lake livery, pregrouping rtr more please
  12. Could someone tell me when the 2 released secr liveries where active, I assume the brass dome fully lined livery is earlier and as Bachmann are to release the birdcage coaches in era 2 would they be suitable for this goods engine ? If not I wonder why Bachmann are to release the coaches in secr livery
  13. and now eBay give free listing every few weekends (you can list at any price for free) surely this makes shill bidding even less likely
  14. It`s got so expensive to sell things on eBay I doubt anyone would try shill bidding as you still have to pay the selling/listing fees

    Hornby Horseboxes

Are the BR versions OK for 1955 ? they look crimson to me
  16. I`ve got a few of these old wagons which airfix / Hornby produced on a 10 ft steel wheelbase and having just read some mineral wagons were made with 10 ft wb steel chassis was wondering if there was a prototype ? Always thought that airfix / Hornby stretched the body to fit their generic 10 ft chassis
