  1. Though these are the ones that were built in the late 1970s, rather than the type Bachmann are modelling.

What's the differences? A Bogie change for certain, but what else?

  2. They're both the same type of wagon, and both will be available with the original diamond-frame bogie (as used into the early 1980s), and the Gloucester GPS25 type with which some were rebuilt (along with air brakes) from the late 1970s. However, some (possibly all) of the rebogied wagons were fitted with side extensions to the decks in the early 1990s; Oxford seem to be doing these. Does anyone have photos of the prototype fitted with widened decks?

Warriors need the special cradle as well, in order to raise the tracks above platform height. Looks like those will need to be  scratchbuilt if you want Warriors as a load.

  3. Eureka. 611 Manual is in my hand arrived this morning.  First impressions. I like it.

Layout is very clean. Pages reduced from 65 511.  to 36 611.

At first glance it would appear to be in a logical order. Will be firing up today.

Nothing on use of the USB socket! do we need any interface software on the PC - what will it report as in the Hardware list? Is it already compatable with control software tike JMRI? Is the 611 software updatable via USB? Is the existing USB Interface that connects via the Bus redundant?

If no-one has anything to report I'll give Graham a ring later this week.

  4. I'm holding off adding chains until I get some proper warwells/warflats sorted, plus I keep swapping loads at the moment. The wagons I use currently are stand-ins until I have a go at the WBF kits or Bachmann release their oft promised waflat in 2150. The Lowmacs will work if I am doing up to the 70's but ideally i'm aiming for later.

You might have problems with the Bachmann offering if you're a purist as the WW2 one they're promising was modified (new Bogies are the most obvious thing as I recall) sometine in the '60s or '70s.

  5. Now for something completely different,

    well sort of!

I am having a break from designing the crane as the design is in lock down awaiting delivery of the rest of the prototype (stuck in a warehouse in Germany at the moment).

I have therefore decided to get cracking again on the LWRT, so I have added some bogie mounts to the wagon and altered the rail runners, The wagon should accept cambrian fabricated Y25's. I have also started on the stabling vehicle for one end of the rake, so here is how far I have got.

The prototype BEP is also on order now.

Is this the Porpoise Chute wagon?

  6. Platform 3 went bust in 1979/80 allegedly due to questionable financial practices. The layout was dismantled by North Fylde MRC (who were in Poulton at the time) and the usable parts sold off by local retailers as BR wanted to demolish the old station buildings.

If you recall the big mountain he had at one end with the rack rail running up it, that thing was Concrete and had to be smashed up with sledgehammers! As I recall all the stock was Flieschmann. The locos were still good, but a lot of the coaches had worn their bearings away and when removed all the wheelsets dropped out!

    Thanks for the info chaps

I do find it a crying shame of what has happened to South, from being a fairly big Junction station (similar size as Poulton) and now it's nothing more than a single platform at the end of a long siding. sad.gif That's very interesting about a model railway/shop being in the old booking hall.....wonder where thats gone now.

  7. Hello Ian,

Apologies for the long wait, but transfers for the 20ft Side loading containers are now available from precision decals as Item number D120, These have very kindly been produced on the request of a customer and have become available before the transfers I have asked another company to produce.

Please note that the containers shown are the original low relief side loaders and not the latest version of the model with holes for the locking bars.

    Hope this is of use,

    Regards,

    Wild Boar Fell

    Excellent! Thanks very much.

  8. There was a train at Preston in the sidings between the station and the Longridge branch in the 70/80s. My recolection was that it was a dirty olive green colour rather than black. The coaches all had flat roofs and were marked Electrification.

  9. Hi guys,

    Quick update.

The MRA wagons are a couple of days from completion and the box is currently in the air for my final approval.

Once this is approved its about a week for the production of the box and 30 days shipping.

So it looks like late May here in time for DEMU (probably).

Sorry to give the news, and I'd normally air freight them over but the weight is prohibitive so it's sea freight for these.

    Cheers Dave

    Dave,

which liveries will be in this first batch?
