      I saw a neat idea where someone replace the tip in a Weller soldering gun with a loop of wire bent from a coathanger to make a hot wire cutter for polystyrene blocks. Haven't yet tried this but I have used a hot wire cutter before and it's a very clean way to cut the material.

      I use a hot-wire cutter but it does not cope with 50mm board. Instead I cut and clean-up immediately, then prevents too much mess.
