  1. A week to go to our 16 th Biannual Open Day plus MOMING 17,full details at www.wiltshire009.btck.co.uk
  2. To quote Des Coakham from his article in the IRRS Journal No38 Oct 1965(which i assume everyone has by their bedside) "Passenger stock of the BC&DR" as you said 6 compt 3rds had alternate full partitions,5 compt 3rds had full height partitions, brake 3rds guards compt extended in1943 the 4 3rd compt have alternate half partitions.Hope this helps Andy.
  3. A word of caution about partitions some are only seat high, certainly on the brake Andy.
  4. Part A is the strap on the bottom of the w irons,Andy.
  5. The "E"s on the County Down kits are the door hinges, nice kits,i've done three of them, just need to build something to put on the front.Andy.
  6. |Just remember a sausage isn't cooked until you can write with it,Andy.
  7. As i'm presently exhibiting four 4mm layouts using either 9,12 or 21 mm gauges , i spend a lot of time explaining the difference between gauge and scale.I had one person at Ally Pally ask if Castlederg was Z gauge.Still all part of the educational process,Andy.
  8. The absence of any spats in the photo has been noted and regretted,Andy.
  9. Point of order 00 is a gauge not a scale EM P4 and 00 are all 4mm just different widths between the rails,Andy.
  10. I must say i'm not impressed with the organisation .of the show, rather underwealmed by it last year but this year takes the biscuit.Andy
  11. Still waiting for paperwork/passes for layout which were supposed to be being sent soon(thursday)
  12. As far as 6wheel coaches go Worsley do about 6 GS&WR,and 5 DN&GR,ones.SSM do 4 GS&WR ones and Bill Bedford/Mousa do 3 B&CDR and a couple of NCC ones.I've built most of them and they run well in fact Valencia runs with nothing else. What is needed now is some MGWR ones(hint hint)I'm assuming its standard gauge ones you're after as Worsley does a good range of various narrow gauge ones,i've just finished 3 Donegal ones which take a bit of getting used to in black.Andy.
  13. Funnily enough i've been testing CVR No6 on Castlederg today. The workbench looks rather like Auchnacloy yard at the moment with the last mortal remains of another Backwoods Clogher loco and a pristine unsullied one which will end up as No's 2 and 3.One thing to bear in mind is that the Donegal red vans started life on the Clogher and i thnk Roger does one you should also be able to use as a basis for the convertables, bearing mind that the Donegal replaced the chassis. The CVR monogram was done by Blackham, though bear in mind reliability over delivery. All the best Andy.
  14. Clogher is on my to do list as well the main question being which station Fivemiletown seems the best though somewhat long,i.ve done the tractor and Atkinson Walker along with some of the coaches and a couple of the opens and theres 3 Backwoods Sharps in the queue, trouble is all the other things like the siren call of the Donegal(again!) Andy.
  15. Totally agree about building to the proper gauge not being that difficult.I spent a lot of time at Warley trying to get that across. One slight point Valencia is built to 21mm gauge using EM gauge standards as is the followup Courtmacsherry. It would appear we are both going to be at Ally Pally this year, shame i wasn't bringing Arigna that would have caused some explaining. All the best Andy.
  16. Splendid layout, trouble is i keep calling my new layout Arigna Town when its actually Arigna.Fully agree about undergauge standard gauge the reason i built Valencia was to show how easy it is do 21mm gauge,Andy.
  17. Hope thewiring is fairly obvious,Strabane is progressing slowly as i'm sidetracked at the moment with the Castlederg, one loco done (No4) with No5 on the way,as is the Railcar and coaches 1 and 3 along with the 2 brakes the opens and half a dozen vans.I feel another layout coming on.Oh dear!Andy
  18. If you are modelling Killybegs,i can reccomend "Killybegs Then and Now"by Donald Martin,Published by the Author in 1998,ISBN 1 901737 06 3 Theres some really usufull photos of the staion and environs.A good source of Donegal photos is Hugh Davies , His range covers the whole of the British Isles but ahs about 100-150 phots of the Donegal reasonable price too!He can be contacted at Chalcot House,32 Charterhouse Road,Godalming,Surrey GU7 2AQ,The Lens of Sutton Association have some usufull shots but some of the captions are a bit dodgey.Killybegs is a nice station to model,i had made a start on it but got sidetracked(sorry about the pun)with Strabane as the fourth in the trilogy of Donegal layouts. The Letterkenny layout at Warley was mine i'm afraid as was the Donegal layout at the first Warley show at the NEC as well as Castlefinn which also put in an appearance at Warley before going to the great exhibition in the sky.Donegal and Letterkenny having both ended up at Donegal station, rather fitting really!More info avaliable if needed,Andy.
