Looks like this is the same forum layout they introduced on NGRM a few months ago that deterred me from going on it after that!

My father has just delivered dome new wooden platform sections for me to use on Aberystwyth Mark 2f. Turned out one of them was cut from the old baseboards of Aberystwyth Mk1 (from 30 years ago) and another was a reprofiled one from an earlier version of his layout - nice to keep the history going!

Only I could manage to short out a controller by mis-installing the short circuit protection!

This weekend's objective achieved. Fiddle yard points now computer controlled (via MERG CBUS) and computer-based analogue controller wired in.

Gah! I have driven three full-sized steam locos - 5322 and 3650 at Didcot, and Linda at Portmadoc. Now the manufacturers are bringing out Linda and 5322 AT THE SAME TIME!!!!! Aargh!

"Lost" signalbox/fiddle yard control and train-sim interface software completely rewritten (almost) from scratch in little more than a weekend. Still work to do, but at least I'm back now to where I was before the hard drive failed...

"virtual" 2 aspect signal and associated auto-stop fitted and working at last, despite some heart-stopping moments with the integrated circuits.....

Am I the only one watching the couple dancing in the loft and sizing it up for a layout?

auto route-setting for the harbour branch now working, but the gate mechanism seems to have stopped :-(

Cut my left ear off and I won't be able to hear so well. Cut my right ear off and I won't be able to see so well...

Despite a few glitches in setting up, a successful day at Kenavon '14! Get my breath back, then start planning the next one...

Doh! just discovered that the Streamline point I bought to replace the one that I broke while fitting the point motor is 5mm longer than the old one! How did that happen?

Excellent DIY railtour today - clocked up over 400 miles, only repeating 2 of them and culminating in my first trip on the Festival Line!

Excellent Eureka moment this afternoon involving control panels and coathangers!

Excellent weekend - good day operating "The Seaside Layout" at Tadworth yesterday, excellent 9 o'clock service this morning and a decently busy afternoon volunteering at Cholsey station. Only downside to the weekend was Reigate chip shop being shut last night!
