  1. I know how you feel, the one layout (15ft of it) Iv'e brought to a state of completion took the best part of ten years, a mix of blocks and other activities. sometimes a break can be a great help. Looking at the top of the cliff the expanse of white flat surface temporarily takes the eye towards the rear at the moment. Perhaps consider a decent wall to stop the local population falling over the edge and continue a very reduced width road along the cliff face with workers houses behind, partly flat and semi relief. A large'ish building backing on the cliff on the left would provide a vanishing point for the road and something similar at the right side would fix the corner. Forgive me, Iv'e been playing with your pic to see how very roughly it might look, still room for low relief behind the semi modelled houses to give impression of hillsdie town behind. You were previously concerned about the water, I do like the colour and finish in the pic above. Looks like a stiff breeze is blowing in.
  2. There's a report on Sky News on this subject. Terrible journalism (probably written by one of Chukie's 'aliums') but can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/y8bogj7b

  4. Brett Stevens "Green all the Way" album. 20 tracks of railway songs and sounds. BBC Records 1969.
  5. That's why they are being discontinued. There will still be a range covering popular current vehicles.
  6. Yes. You are correct. Halfords are significantly reducing the premixed range cans, especially the Rover ones and earlier models in general. Premixed paints for many modern cars will still be available in the stores. As far as I know any of the range can be obtained (by car model ref at least), but they will not be mixed in most stores and will need ordering. This will make them more expensive of course.

  10. Like the cars, you don't get all the 'nice to haves' with the base model. There were some good bits, like the brush for sweeping the rail and sleeper tops and the blue 'go faster' arrow on one wagon to show which way it should be pointing, but not to have some form of enclosure to protect the spent ballast conveyor operator seems remiss. In fact the overall level of dust was appalling. I certainly wouldn't want it operating at the end of my back garden! Fascinating piece of kit though. Another hour of lockdown spent because there lots more videos of various bits of ingeneous rail maintenance kit just waiting to be watched. Thanks for posting
  11. Why bother with tank cars? Just need one or more local fuel trucks to turn up at a station stop: The Vancouver - Toronto 'Canadian'. Same locos all the way through, refuelled as neccesary.

  13. I've just scanned through this thread and can't see what the source or type of standed wire is. If it has been stripped from a communications or computer cable it very probably is CCA (copper coated aluminium) as suggested in a prev post. If it is, keep the soldering iron and ditch the wire, it will not solder easily with our usual potions, if at all.
  14. I suspect the inside crane/railtrack has a moveable bolted section of track at the crossing. I have seen this in a few places where separation of the lines could not be achieved and allows for the usual double flanged wheels on the crane bogies.
