Or buy whichever one comes up for sale at the right price, and buy a replacement body shell of the Bachmann spares website. That's what I did, 2 models for the price of one and a half!
exactly!
good way to change identities--

Just had one of these pass through my hands for repair, it was the SECR liveried R3648 - which seem to command quite a premium on ebay, if you can find a buyer.
The motor was playing up - stoppong/starting and smoking quite badly after stalling. Suggested over lubrication, but the owner confirmed that he had never been near it with the 3in1!
.
I had a SR green liveried one from the first run, a lovely looking loco but had the same issues of overheating etc so sent it back to Rails but instead of replacing it they returned it to me with even more lube all over it, so I sent it back for a refund, a shame really as I liked the look of it--I should have perservered by the sounds of it.
I still have the SECR liveried version as it was not as bad as the SR one.
I am about to sell up my SECR stock so good to know Ebay gets a decent sale price for these :-)

There's a retailer with some new kicking around, at the same price.
80 quid for a decent loco seems a fair price these days!
I see HMC and KGR still have a few variants available at around this mark:

I've pondered 9mm track in 3mm! Even bought some track and building kits, one day perhaps it might become a reality!

I didn't think any of the NCB Yorkshire areas had any working steam locomotives that late. In my Industrial Locomotives 1976, HE 3168/1944 is shown OOU at Allerton Bywater Colliery.
"Zone of high vehicular activity" indeed.
quite an interesting piece on Fryston in 1982 here

for more prototype inspiration / operations, I recommend a look at the two vols of 'An Historical Survey of Selected London, Midland and Scottish ( LMS ) Stations: Layouts and Illustrations':
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Historical-Selected-Midland-Scottish-Stations/dp/0860931684
plus the 'LMS lineside' vols

looking good :-) I quite liked the kick back siding from the goods platform, fills that corner nicely?
plus I wonder too if there is scope for a double track entry, often branchline termini had a siding that paralelled the main running-in line?

I have looked at Newport Pagnell which, for those unaware of it, was on a small branch from Wolverton. The line was 4 miles long with 2 intermediate stations, so single track all the way.
Newport Pagnell station had a goods yard beyond the passenger station. The platforms themselves held about 4 coaches, but fitting it onto a 15' layout in OO was about as small as I felt it could go without looking compressed, but you may feel it can be squeezed a little more.
There was a book about the branch with some useful photos. It will be out of print but you may be able to find a copy if the station has any potential for you.
that's a great prototype, ruralish LMS branchlines have a real charm, to me anyway!

Apologies if this has had been covered, but are there any plans for a rerun of the twins in LMS? I think these were originally limited to Rails, but surely by now are main range?
worth keeping a regular eye here:
https://clarkrailworks.com/collections/new-arrivals
as they do pop up reasonably regularly for sale s/h.

Worth adding that Kato will be launching some tight radius 009 Unitrack later this year, same radius as their N track but with 009 size sleepers and spacing.
is this the stuff:

anyone like me so inclined to do something about the worsening glare of modern headlights, here's a relevant petition:
"Review the brightness of car headlights for safety
The Government should launch a review into the problem of some headlights causing oncoming traffic drivers to be unable to see clearly and safely. The review should be conducted with car manufacturers to find solutions."https://petition.parliament.uk/petitions/653793#

SUV, half on the pavement, facing against traffic, and on the opposite side of the road to all the other parked cars
and at night always made much worse when parked SUV (and van) drivers leaving their headlights on, facing traffic on the wrong side of the road, it's virtually blinding 😒

there's an allocation list for 1945 at the back of the LMS Engine Sheds book (vol 4):
Templecombe has 634, 698, 1251, 1406, 3356, 3792, 3198, 3248, 3260, 4146 and 4417.
Highbridge has 1298, 1307, 1322, 1346, 1371, 3194, 3216 and 3218.
an excellent book, worth getting.
edit: you have it already! :-)
cheers,
