I've seen that picture before Richard, I think it was something to do with air braking as when those vans very introduced very few locos had air braking capability
is it here:

I've never ridden with a mirror so possibly not qualified to comment; admittedly a mirror would be cheaper!
Fair review of the Varia here:
I got a mirror for my bar end a few months ago and it feels a lot better being able to see what's coming up behind, how fast, and how close, making eye contact with drivers, just like when I am in the car, looking behind as much as in front is critical on the road, I wouldn't be without the mirror now.
cheers,
Keith

Yes, modelling trade ads are now showing to all Gold and Premium users as originally intended.
not just trade ads though, I'm getting stuff about dogs...
I did have a relatively good ad free experience until recently as a gold subscriber but today it seems to have taken a dip.

As all seems to be bedding in OK now I have moved all Gold members onto the Default RMweb 2021 theme.
If you are Gold or Premium and are still seeing any ads (apart from model trade) your usergroup may not be correctly set up; can you please clear any cookies/history/cache and log in to the integration page here http://www.rmweb.uk/rmweb-integration.php so that I narrow down any issues.
I'm getting a Rapido advert at the top of the page, I don't remember seeing anything there before?

good to see the pics and updates 👍
looks like we might get a bit of snow over here too these next few days.

Do you have a link, can’t see any precedents at that price on there?
it came as an email, I tried it out using the code at the checkout stage, and the 20% was applied then, so seems to work ok, link I used was for the Black LMS loco, sadly I am out of beanz this month :-(

Interesting field work there @009 micro modeller have you looked at the historic 25" scale OS maps available online via NLS, eg https://maps.nls.uk/view/104201101 for 1938, shows the tramway route and 'subway' under WCML.

Kernow as well.
Kernow always worth keeping an eye on for bargains, had not seen this 009 Bachmann Baldwin (GVT) in their bargains section before, now for less than a £100, which is tempting:
EDIT--TMC also have it, but at £95.96 (free postage over £100 too):

those look excellent @BR traction instructor I've been eyeing up some new gloves too as they make a massive difference out on the bike, I tend to wear gloves cycling all the time but winter ones like those would be good in this weather at the mo.
funny thing is while I might buy a model loco or rolling stock £100+ when it comes to spending on my cycling kit I'm really tight!
I'm beginning to retrain myself a bit on this, and weigh up whether I should be getting a nice new loco vs say a decent down sleeping bag, which would serve me well for colder camping and bivvying...
decisions decisions!
all the best,
Keith

Keith
