  1. Many thanks coachman Indeed, a very difficult subject!! Brian
  2. Hello Ian No.58086 was the last one. She was at Bath Green Park shed in 1960 but had been stored since May of 1959, I believe. There are a number of published photos of the loco there, one of which is in The Colour of Steam Vol.2, The Somerset & Dorset Line, by RC Riley. In that photo, someone has chalked No.70000 above the smokebox and cabside numbers. Brian
  3. Hello 81C Just awaiting a reply from John. Brian
  4. Hello coachmann Many thanks for that. Could I trouble you for diagram numbers, please? Brian
  5. Thanks coachmann This may have some bearing on why we in The Poll Team came to the conclusion that C35, D56 an E98/E103 might suit many (as noted in an earlier posting) - but I am just awaiting an update from John Lewis and will report back. It certainly is a complex subject and would like to thank Neal for raising it. By gathering info from a wide range of contributors, I'm sure the end result of this thread will be very useful in sorting out much of what isn't likely. Brian
  6. Hello Neal Just Like The Real Thing (the 0 gauge people) list the following diagrams as kits. Maybe there's some mileage is asking them why they chose those diagrams? C31, D47, E83, E85, E93. Brian
  7. Hello HowardGWR I will PM you shortly to avoid taking this thread off topic. Brian
  8. Hello Miss Prism It's a matter of 'context'. My extract in #57 referred to The Guide; in that, we said as below (extracted only). (Sorry if the typesizes have altered during copying across!) Hope that helps. As you say in your posting above, NPCCS is not for this thread, but I thought it worthwhile clarifying the earlier posting. Brian (on behalf of The Poll Team for this posting). The items listed in this category are what many modellers refer to as ‘parcels train stock’. However, in railway terminology of the steam and early diesel era, it is non-passenger-carrying coaching stock (NPCCS). Although there are some subtleties outside the scope and purpose of this Guide (and some items have been included here for ‘completeness’) they are vehicles designed and used primarily for the conveyance of passenger-rated consignments. These include parcels, fish or milk, as opposed to human passengers or freight-rated consignments, such as coal or steel. Such vehicles were built to coaching stock standards and were cleared for running in passenger trains (subject to certain conditions).
  9. Hello 81C I'll have a word with The Poll Team's 'GWR man', John Lewis. Bear with me - it might take a day or two to get a reply here. Brian
  10. Hello Neal Below is an extract from The Guide to The Wishlist Poll 2016. I notice none of those are in your list. Brian The Toplight vehicles were altered considerably over the years, which would make the choice for a manufacturer very difficult. The Poll Team has discussed the matter at length and feels that the following 57ft steel-panelled coaches with rigid angle trusses (and the Diag.K22 PBV in the category Non-passenger-carrying Coaching Stock) would suit most modellers: Diag.C35 Third Diag.D56 Brake Third Diags.E98 or E103 Composites.
  11. Hello everyone I thought you might like to know how the all-new items announced by Bachmann today fared in The Wishlist Poll 2016. In 00: The MR 1P 0-4-4T, Class 20/3, Prestwin Twin Silo and Vanwide were all High Polling. The Class 410 (4 BEP) was Middle Polling - it missed being High by just one vote! We didn't list the 1960's Carflat as one type has been announced by Oxford Rail (although we still list the 1959 type). In N: The Stanier 8F 2-8-0 was the most-wanted LMS steam loco and came in at position 8th overall. It was the second most-wanted steam loco - the most-wanted being the LSWR/SR N15 King Arthur. The SECR C Class 0-6-0 was High Polling. The Thompson Coaches (square windows) were Middle Polling. Brian Macdermott (on behalf of The Poll Team)
  12. Hello Phil The early train was to enable the stocking of cars in readiness for Saturday Down trains. Brian
  13. Hello everyone A bit more on WR ECS for you. A list for Friday 3 August 1956 shows: 12.05pm (Empty Diners) Paddington to Newquay Brake Second - Newquay Kitchen First 304 - Newquay Dining Saloon 9630 - Newquay Diner 9579 - Newquay Brake Second - Newquay Diner 9563 - Plymouth Buffet Car 9632 - Paignton Not mentioned previously here (as far as I can see) was: 8.40am (Empty Diners) Old Oak Common to Paddington and back (but see notes below) Kitchen Buffet 9613* Dining Saloon 9621* Brake Diner 9572 Diner 9553 Kitchen First 9615 Diner 9573 Diner 9534 Kitchen First 9614 Diner 9610 Diner 9638 Diner 9540 Brake * These vehicles when stocked to be detached at Paddington and forwarded to West London by a suitable service. (They were at the 'Bristol end' of the train.) I have only ever seen one photo of the 12.05pm ECS train. Such a shame, as it - and the one above - ran every summer Friday for many years. Hand-written notes in the margin of the sheet I have might have something to do with what Mike (Stationmaster) alluded to. One example was "10.30am, 29/245, Slip 4/28". Perhaps the number of reserved seats? Brian
  14. Hello Tony From other photos, your S&D 7F is 53809. Nos.53808 and 53809 went to Barry, but 53807 went to Cashmore of Newport and was taken into the yard there on 3/5/65. Incidentally, if the choice had been between 53807 and 53808 the answer would have been easy; 53807 had a unique smokebox saddle. I can't seem to load a link, so will email you directly with it. Regards Brian (with thanks to my friend Richard Strange, Secretary of the Steam Railway Research Society for confirming the date and location for 53807.)
  15. Hello Ian Many thanks for the comment above which is much appreciated. I forgot to say in my reply to Andy Hayter (#89 and 90) that The Poll Team set up the data to not only facilitate voting, but to provide The Guide to help those who - for example - knew they wanted some additional 'green coaches' or another 'small tank engine' but were unsure of which would best suit their aims. If I go to back to pre-2012 days on MREmag, there was much debate about the GER/LNER J Classes. They now have very strong focus (and the J15 and J50 have already come to market). The same focus has been applied to certain Scottish types. Brian (on behalf of The Poll Team)
  16. Hello Andy As we say in the Q&A each year, we have never claimed that models are made purely on the basis of The Poll Results. The results represent the views of those who vote and we hope those views are reflected by what the makers receive themselves via their own contact with their supporters. We could list 30,000+ items. The majority of what has been announced in 00 since 2012 - when this Team first started running The Poll - has come from the upper half of the 700+ listings, with much from the upper half of that. Even if you only take the results of the items listed above between 2012 and 2014, pretty much all were upward moving. Some were - and continued to be - very high. Brian (on behalf of The Poll Team)
  17. Hello everyone Summing up the results so far: 2 items - Top 50 2 items - High Polling (other than Top 50). (We have not included the J70 yet as that hasn't been confirmed.) 2 items - Middle Polling 0 items - Low Polling Brian (on behalf of The Poll Team)
  18. Warley & The Wishlist Poll 2016 Results (7) Hornby has announced the Class 800 in 00. This was 'new to The Poll' in 2015 and found itself Low Polling. However, for 2016, it had moved up to Middle Polling. From looking at the survey being run on the Hornby site, it should be a very popular item. Brian (on behalf of The Poll Team)
  19. Warley & The Wishlist Poll 2016 Results (6) Hornby has announced the Class 87 in 00. Since 2012, the class has fared as below. 2012 - High Polling (towards the top) 2013 - High Polling (but now in The Top 50) 2014 - High Polling (still in the Top 50 but now the most-wanted electric loco) 2015 - High Polling (higher up The Top 50; still the most-wanted electric loco) 2016 - High Polling (now up to about 16th place in The Top 50; still the most-wanted electric loco) Brian (on behalf of The Poll Team)
  20. Warley & The Wishlist Poll 2016 Results (5) Hornby has announced the LMS Ivatt Coronation (Duchess) (46256-46257) in 00. (The company has also announced the 'other' version, but that hasn't been in The Poll as it was re-tooled after our cut-off date - but good news that that it is being brought up to current high standards. We have had a number of requests to list it, but we have to go by our 2000 cut-off date.) This is the first new LMS loco for some years. The type has fared as below: 2012 - Middle Polling (towards the lower echelons) 2013 - Middle Polling (now towards the middle) 2014 - Middle Polling 2015 - Middle Polling (but now towards the higher echelons) 2016 - High Polling In 2016, it was the 7th most-wanted LMS & Constituents loco with 166 votes. Brian (on behalf of The Poll Team)
  21. Warley & The Wishlist Poll 2016 Results (4) Hornby has announced the GWR Toad Brake Van (AA15) in 00. This vehicle has been High Polling since 2012, but was at its highest point ever last year - coming in at approx.120th position overall. (Speaking personally here, the separate handrails will no doubt be an excellent feature.) Brian (on behalf of The Poll Team)
  22. Warley & The Wishlist Poll 2016 Results (3) I don't have full details yet, but photos from Andy York suggest that TMC has announced a Double Bolster wagon in 00. We list LNER/LMS/BR Plate/Double Bolster/Trestle Wagon, so it will be interesting to see if the other two types spin off (which seems a practical possibility). We changed the way we listed certain wagons in 2015, so I can't give you a report back to 2012. However, in 2015 it was Middle Polling. In 2016, it was still Middle Polling but much higher up the segment. Brian (on behalf of The Poll Team)
  23. Warley & The Wishlist Poll 2016 Results (2) Following yesterday's 'teasing post' by Chris Leigh, Model Rail is looking for expressions of interest for the GER J70 Tram Loco in 00. We won't take it out of the 00 Poll yet, but will wait for confirmation that the project is proceeding which - going by its Poll popularity - should be a good choice for many modellers. Below is how it has fared since 2012. 2012 - Middle Polling 2013 - High Polling (but in the lower echelons of the segment) 2014 - High Polling (but now towards the middle of the segment) 2015 - High Polling 2016 - High Polling (but now towards the top of the segment and not far short of The Top 50) In 2016, it was the sixth most-wanted LNER & Constituents loco with 224 votes. It was behind the GER N7 (256 votes); Sentinel Railcar (252); NER J26/J27 (244); GER J67/J69/J68 (229); and the LNER W1 Hush Hush (226). Brian (on behalf of The Poll Team)
  24. Hello everyone Warley & The Wishlist Poll 2016 Results Realtrack Models has announced the Class 156 DMU for 00. This DMU has always been popular with voters, so it is good to see it come to fruition. Below is how it has fared since 2012. 2012 - High Polling (but in the lower echelons of the segment) 2013 - High Polling 2014 - High Polling (now in The Top 50) 2015 - High Polling (slightly higher up The Top 50) 2016 - High Polling (higher again at position 17 overall) In 2016, the Class 156 was the second most-wanted DMU (305 votes) behind the Class 120 (with 347 votes). I'll let you have other results as they appear. If you haven't yet seen The Poll Results, you can find them at the start of this thread. Brian (on behalf of The Poll Team
  25. Hello Edwardian See link below for the Dean Goods (which is presumably what you were talking about?) Brian http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/117156-national-collection-in-miniature-dean-goods-class-no-2516/ Edit: Sorry - just realised that you had already seen it and were now referring to Rapido as opposed to Oxford Rail!
