  1. Good choice! I get to drive 1638 at work again tomorrow so I might be a little biased ;-)
  2. Drop me a PM to remind me and I will see what I can do. Fancy building two? ;-)
  3. I have a fairly large set of drawings for the engine as built, I just need to find whee I put them. Certainly includes a GA as I have been digitally cleaning that one up. Andy
  4. I would love to see both type 21’s together but unfortunately I don’t think it is likely. Today Norwegian was pressed into service for a driver experience course, giving the chance for a photo in the sun.
  5. Great news on the Railmotors and a good move joining the society!
  6. There were both imported separately, No.377 first then 376 later.
  7. Evening all, I know continental locos are not everyone’s cup of tea but myself and a few volunteers at the Kent and East Sussex Railway have carried out a partial repaint of ‘Norwegian’ into a similar livery to that carried when the Engine was withdrawn. Next year the Engine celebrates its 100th birthday and we thought we should do something different to celebrate. Enjoy! Andy
  8. Very nice, loving the Col Stephens items. Will we see a Ford Railmotor to fit on a wickham trolley mechanism ;-) Andy

    Lynsford

I think its time to introduce our project 'Lynsford'. Lynsford is a small station on the South coast served by ex Southern steam and electric units alongside the odd ex WR Interloper. The layout itself is 2m long by 45cm wide including the fiddle yard. The baseboards are a solid construction which fits in my van and around all the corners in my house. Having been inspired by Portwey which appeared on these pages and in Railway Modeller myself and a friend decided to build a slightly larger version. The layout has 3rd rail into the two main platforms to allow operation of electric units. The three signals all work, the two Dapol SR signals have been converted to servo operation whilst the shunt was (badly) built from a kit and connected to a servo. All are controlled by a Rasbery Pi computer beneath the board and have random programs that allow the arm to be pulled off in different fashions. The houses at the back are laser cut wooden kits and will be fitted with homemade 3D printed interiors and lighting. The station building and signalbox are Wills kits again fitted with lights and interiors. The road over bridge will feature vehicles with working lights and was built from laser cut wooden components. Thanks enough talking, a few photos of the work so far are attached. Thanks for looking. Andy H
  10. There is a lovely 3D printed 6 wheel SECR van available via Shapeways. really easy to paint and build...
  11. Well its a good thing I can laugh at myself!! I honestly didn't expect at any time to see a photo of myself with photoshopped pink handbags here on RM web. Going back to page one, someone commented that you wouldn't drive a train with your hand in your pocket. I actually often do, especially on engines with little weather protection and tiny fires. It can get surprisingly cold! Andy H
  12. I presume if your "doing it right" your P will be modified with a working steam reverser? ;-)
  13. Some people really are never happy. I think they look great!
  14. Hi Jim Many thanks, I have already managed to borrow a copy but the photos are not really clear enough to see the detail. I will continue my search! Many thanks Andy
  15. Does anyone have any images or links to images that show any of the metalwork (door hinges, bolts, end steps etc) that were fitted on the Siphon J vehicles. I have a friend who is building a basic one in 5" gauge as a riding trolley and I have offered to 3D print him some detailing parts subject to finding enough photos and info. Thanks in advance. Andy H
  16. Our volunteers at the Kent & East Sussex Railway have been busy applying the lining and lettering to our newly overhauled USA tank. The engine is being turned out in Longmoor Military Railway livery as scrapped sister locomotive No.300 and will eventually be named 'Major General Frank S Ross'. The engine will enter traffic this weekend and work our Santa Special trains throughout December. The final details including nameplate and white wall tyres will be added early next year ready for our 2018 season. Doesn't it look fab!
  17. It's one piece, a little fiddly to paint but all very nice. The floor is hollow so you can paint the interior. I plan to add a false floor and some weight. I think cost was about £37 for the body and postage. Andy
  18. All, With the announcement of the P and the forthcoming H Class I thought that a small SECR 6 wheel brakevan was needed. I have a 4 wheel Dancehall but fancied something a little more quaint, especially to run with the P class. Originally these 6 wheel vans were built with only one veranda and an "open" end, but these were subsequently rebuilt, albeit different to the closed end. Later vans built with two verandas had identical ends. After a chat with member Rue_d_etropal and an exchange of drawings he created a 3d model which was duly ordered via shapeways; After a little cleaning up and the addition of handrails and some lamp irons painting has started. This needs finishing off tonight and a tidy up (the close up photos make it look much worse than it is in reality). All that's left now is some transfers and a suitable guard. I'm really impressed with the quality of the print and will probably be getting another one or two of these vans to do in SECR and BR livery. Andy
  19. Simon, I do apologise, I'm completely incorrect and the model is spot on. My KESR version is actualy incorrect! It really is lovely. Fancy some other SECR vehicles? Andy
  20. Well my SECR 6 wheel van arrived today.... Other than one of the veranda ends has an error I'm really impressed.(I will sort with some filler and live with it) The finish is excellent. All I have done is drop in some temporary wheels. Handrails and lamp irons will be added and it will be ready to match its P class. Andy
  21. Something like this; https://www.shapeways.com/product/L6DEMGDN4/a-76-secr-6w-brakevan-1
  22. I wonder if the collective can help me. L I'm after any photos, publicity material or any other info on British Rail Morris Marina or Ital vans. Does anyone have anything they would be willing to share? I have been scouring the internet for images but have only turned up a handful. Any more would be grateful appreciated, even if they are just in the background. Many thanks Andy H
