  1. Kevin,

Thanks for the reply. I asked because my layout will have a similar station and forested area around. I wanted to get an idea of the expected expenditure. :)

I think we'll be adding a little at a time.

    Cheers,

  2. Sorry I can't help with black 5 images but I do have a question about your layout.

How many trees are on your layout, (sorry if its already been asked)?

    Regards,

  3. I like the new loco.

That was one of the few 47's that ran through singers station heading west in the late 80's. Sadly other than remembering names of locos I really didn't pay as much attention as I wished I had.

    Cheers,

  4. And here is the video, however the camera hasn't quite captured how fast it strobes.

Don't watch if you're affected by flashing lights!

Handy if you want to give an impression of a thunder storm.

    Looking forward to more.

  5. If your painting it Andy, what about a mix of A & B?

When I get to my ballast I'll be doing a 4:1 or 3:1 mix of fine (4 or 3), medium (1) woodland scenics ballast once I've tested how it looks.

Just a wee after thought to confuse things even more for you. lol

Looking forward to your decision and updates about how its going.

    Cheers for now,

  6. For scale, A.

C and D looks too large.

I have no opinion on colour as there are many better qualified.

Edit, looking again A could be just a little over but B doesn't look as if there is enough definition.

  7. Hi Andy,

You do some great layouts but I'm wondering where you get the inspiration from? Is it from visits, holidays, DVD's or books?

I just picked up Ian Futers "Scottish layout projects" and see he has another book "modelling Scottish railways". Have you read the second and do you have any modelling based recommendations?

Looking forward to the development of this project.

    Cheers for now,

  8. What a great layout, I think it's the first time I've come across it.

Can you tell me why 47706 (scotrail) has the three colours in the cab side above the numbers?

Your new 47 NSE looks good! I've always liked the livery, well to be honest, of all the english liveries it's the only one I would consider if I done a layout south of the border. All the rest just don't stand out.

  9. I'm salivating after catching up with this thread.

What would you give to have all of these under the one roof?

Loads if inspiration for all to see. No wonder Scotland's a popular subject particularly with these examples being selflessly exhibited for all to see.

Thanks for posting for those that can't make it to some of the shows that are a little to far to make.

  10. Hi Stephen,

I've really enjoyed looking through your thread. You have a very nice layout and whilst looking at it I found myself having to constantly remind myself "this is N guage". Really good stuff and keep it up. Looking forward to some more.

    All the best,

Be fair, these coaches are 20 years old, or thereabouts!

They are, but i believe at this time Hornby had the correct type of coach available in there range (although I could be wrong as I never really had a great interest in railway products at the time). But this must be my 7 or 8th Hornby purchase that are basically wrong. This just creates doubt in the believability of any Hornby product, for me personally. The joy felt on giving my son something he wanted is soon demonised by the fact that they never really were. Just more money wasted IMO. If my son decides to throw himself fully into the hobby I'll have to one day tell him his favourite coaches are just pure fiction/rubbish will totally deflate him and possibly his interest in the hobby.

    Best regards,

The body is that of an LMS Brake Third, but the underframe (as in all of this style of Hornby coach) approximates that of a GWR coach.

    Adrian

Wow, Hornby does it again. Thanks Adrian.

I do like the idea of utility vans but we already have the yellow crane.

I think these will be used as is too keep a little boy happy with thoughts to replacements further down the line and these will be passed on or auctioned or just binned. Well I suppose it goes to show my naivety in all things on rails, but it does keep the wee yin happy. You never know they may even get a second lease of life as doners for future projects although nothing comes to mind.
