    Dutch liveried 37 passes through.

When I get time, I'll sort out a new topic in the main layouts section. So little time, so much to do!

I would love too see more of this layout, particularly the 303 & 318's on it, I tried your link (My Layout) but I'm not getting a connection. Please post more.

    Many thanks,

  2. She always had the choice to quit, and many people do make that choice.

She also had the choice never to start taking drugs, let alone quit. Her life was far and away much more fulfilled than most could hope for.

She was a talent, but a fool in the first place.

Controversial opinion, but i beleive it to be true.

  3. Hi SwissRailPassion,

the stainless steel types that are appearing at lots of Scottish stations. I will hopefully have this with me at Perth on the DEMU roadshow stand but this is destined for another Scottish layout that is being built by our area group.

    Thanks,

    Mark

Would I know this station???????????? I hope so because I'd love to see a model of it.

or am I way off the mark here?

I think your layout looks cracking and I hope to see it down Ayr way next year if I can attened, but please let me know if there are any more outings planned for it.

I am really begining to like the look of 26's as most of our fleet carry the Westie so I think I can see one in our future.

    All the best,

  4. Mint, but runs a bit slow!

    link

If he/she said cosmetics are mint but runs a bit slow, then fare enough. When you read the description......

Hornby 4-6-0 HOGWARTS CASTLE . RIGHT SIDE BUFFER HAS A SMALL SPLIT.

NEVER BEEN USED. TEST RUN ONLY. RUNS A BIT SLOW

Somehow I think it has been run, how can you split a buffer without taking it out to run and droping it in the process

  5. I thought I'd have a go at dirtying up the rails and adding some old rails and sleepers.

So a coffee cup is say 3" x 6" - that would be 1mm x 2mm - any suggestions on what to use or how to do it?

    Phil

    Hi Phil,

Do slaters, Evergreen Plastikard and plastruct (all the manufacturers I can think of) not do 1mm plastic rod? usually about £3 for a pack.

    Best regards,

  6. Hi,

I wanted one of the railroad Tornados, but hate the colour it comes in and thought I would go this route of livery, as with all pictures it is hard to guess the correct colour, but I think it's close to Humbrol 127 ghost grey, used in US warships.

If you do get the exact colour, please post, we would love to know.

Another thought I've just had, you could try taking the photo to a body shop, they will usually mix a can for a few quid.

    All the best,

  7. That's a huge transformation from a standard Hornby model (if you could call hornbys a model).

Well done and thanks very much for sharing your work with us.

Are your pictures been added via a third party site like photobucket or something? I ask because if you delete them at some point well be stuck for using your thread for reference.

    All the best,

  8. Hi mark

    Lighting!

Here are step by step pictures of how I do my lighting.

I did have a dud LED, it was fine after I replaced it.

    Hi Carl,

    I did mean wiring.

I thought you were adding head and tails to both ends, my mistake. I wanted to see how to wire a pcb if both lights were added to both ends as all my reading says it's dificult to not have them all on all the time. I have a couple of brand new Bachmanns with DCC port, but no lighting and would love to know where to wire them in the PCB board. I thought I would have got an inclination from your thread, but I got my wires crossed (poor pun).

Looks a sweet loco all the same and well worth a read.

    Best regards,

  9. Ahhhh,

Your just full of we tips and tricks.;)

May even try it to see if I see a difference, but to be honest. I've been happy with the results so far (touch wood).

Well my spare body that was going to be a large logo or RF red stripe is now going to be WCR Loch Arkaig. Just need to figure out the easiest way to do the orange lining tape. If you have any ideas i'd be glad to here them. Probably too fine to paint accurately. I guess an order to Fox could be on the cards.

    Regards,

  10. Hi Carl,

Me again (here we go again I hear you say). I'm wondering why you went with a gloss varnish? I ask because all my modelling background has taught me the smaller the scale the less shine are on things. I would probably only went as shinny as satin. I know gloss is more hard wearing, but is there another reason?

    Best regards and thanks,

  11. Hi Carl,

I've been following with great interest as you know. I notice you use enamels and I have to say after reading loads of posts here and eles where I went with acrylics for my resprays which are a pile of rubbish in my opinion. The finish is poor, not a hard wearing surface at all. The over all look of the finish is much to be desired and varnish is the worst I've ever worked with in 25 years of modelling normal finger handling can remove or tarnish it. I'll be going back to enamels myself in future projects.

A big can of worms opened here and I'm sure the debate will become quite extensive, but if we could leave that for another thread instead of diluting a wonderful modeling thread that Carl has created.

    Regards,

    Mark

  12. Thanks Carl,

I'm liking this thread even more. Large Logo, the best livery out their although I've found a soft spot for Loadhaul 37's recently. (don't tell anyone).

I hope your going to cover the painting step by step? I've a Bachy 37/0 body I wanted to turn into a LL livery, but I found the masking an absolute pain in the neck to do. I've since decided to use it for West Coast Railways maroon (easier to mask).

    Regards,

    Mark
