  1. I hope you stopped immediately and bought a lottery ticket?
  2. Saxby: (You could have used the next square to the south: http://www.fsmr.org.uk )
  3. Next. An easy one while the server is running.
  4. I try to -- been there, done that. Happy to help. You don't necessarily have to RTFM -- you can always ask on Templot Club. That's what it's there for! I've posted the video on there now and added a few extra notes: http://85a.co.uk/for...1005&forum_id=1 regards, Martin.
  5. Hi Gordon, Brilliant post! There's no need to mark out the trackbed edges yourself -- Templot will draw them for you. Here's a quick bit of Jing video showing that (click to watch): http://www.templot.c...ckbed_edges.swf (Sorry it won't embed here in the post on RMweb, I will put an embedded copy on Templot Club shortly.) Here's a bit of printed template showing the result: As you can see, trackbed edges apply to plain track and turnout main roads only. Templot is not too intelligent on this and leaves you to mark the turnout-road side and scribble out any unwanted marks before cutting. But it's still a lot quicker than marking all the edges yourself. regards, Martin.
  6. That's happened to me, too. I now prepare a clue in readiness before posting the square. Then I can use the clue myself! Martin.
  7. Hi Dd, It's been offline for over 24 hours. Part of the current RMweb troubles. Andy is working on it. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/forum/ However, image links are still working: regards, Martin.
  8. Another mapping site, from Bill Chadwick: http://wtp2.appspot.com/wtp2.htm Full screen Landranger and aerial synchronised side-by-side. No advertising. Multimap API. Unlike Anthony Cartmell's site, this one covers the entire world. Don't click the link if you haven't got an hour to spare. The same site with full search and options, but UK only: http://wtp2.appspot....eresthepath.htm Note the red ?© button -- swaps instantly from the old NPE maps to the current map -- brilliant for the One Square game. The maps show a marker on both map and aerial, even when they are not to the same scale. Useful zoom out/zoom in function on right-click, in addition to the mouse wheel. Map only (no aerial): http://wtp2.appspot....bile/mobile.htm Home page: http://wtp2.appspot.com Detailed notes about the site: http://wtp2.appspot.com/help.htm regards, Martin.
  9. Next (the path running north-east/south-west through the viewpoint is on a trackbed):
  10. 1. Forget Streetmap, etc. -- The best Landranger Map on the web: http://www.fonant.com/osmap.html Provided by Anthony Cartmell. Draggable, full screen, no advertising. The search box is top-left (easily missed at first). Brilliant! 2. Time for a clue. Here's the NPE version: Martin.
  11. You're welcome, Rod. For FB standard gauge, you probably also want: sleepers: 8ft-6in. timbering style: square-on. timbering: ends-in-line. wing and check rails: flared ends machined. The latter is a very noticeable difference between heavy FB and bullhead. regards, Martin.
  12. Hi Rod, For pre-1959 FB renewals use the FB-109 switches in Templot. These are in effect "drop-in" replacements for the REA bullhead designs, and virtually identical in geometry. For post-1959 renewals use the BS-110A/BS-113A Inclined switches in Templot. These use fully curved switch planing, and the turnouts are slightly longer as a result. Don't use the Colin Craig BS-113A Vertical templates for the 1950s and 60s -- these were introduced for renewals only from about 1970. (They should also be 1432mm gauge / 18.79mm.) regards, Martin.
