don’t know, I picked it up from the road side from the lad who’d bought it off a work colleague

Could have spent part of its life by the sea as thats a killer or may have come from some parts of Scotland where cars can last only five years because of the salt they put down.

In case you all wonder what this means  there was an image of a clock face with Mon to Sun on it and a pointer to help  us oldies remember what day of the week it is or was or could be. However  due to extra terrestrial interruptions the signal faltered like a candle in the wind and connections were lost.

  7. My favorite aircraft have always been big propliners and civilian versions of WW2 bombers and flying boats that were used from 1946. That progressed to water bombers when i learnt that all sorts of large propliners and the Privateer  were used back in the seventies. Plus the mighty Martin Mars, luckily we have plenty of video action of this wonderful aircraft scooping up 5000 gals at a time, sadly grounded now.

    * As in the headline: "FLORIDA MAN"

Rainman Ray a Youtuber who runs a auto mechanic repair garage refers to his customers from the Keys them as Conchs. He had a blinged up Fiat 500 in the shop a couple of weeks ago to add just more shiny bits!

What they mean is that it contains SOME potato, the rest are the added ingredients thought up by food scientists to improve its shelf life and bulk up the product with cheap plant based filler

I cant eat anything plant based, tried some ham last year and spent the following twelve hours uncomfortably cleansing my bowels. People with IBS and other bowel related issues may soon be aware of this, are there any warnings on the package?

Re Aliens are everywhere now, back in 1964 my father saw one which he described as a large silent illuminated spinning disc with portholes, this was above Northdown park in Cliftonville.

OMG and we worry about false black widows, what size is that?

Talking about things with lots of legs, today is bee day. This is when we uncover our masonry bee hotels from their slumber wrapped in fleece in  Kathy's shed and screw them under the eaves by the door of my garden railway shed. These go into her shed mid Sept and we have been repeating this for ten years now.  The hotels are just three pieces of 6 inch  plastic downpipe and about a dozen shortened bamboo canes held in place with silicon. They usually start to emerge late April by eating their way out of the earth and spittle plugs. They then go and do their thing and return usually late July. They are completely harmless as their sting cant penetrate our skin. Unlike the other little bees that turned up a couple of years ago and made a nest in the ground by the railway which did sting!  So a quick call to a local pest expert and with one squirt of something they made their way to heaven and paradise 😉.

We have now got ants in our lounge on the window ledge looks like they are coming through a crack in the corner of the upvc window frame. So i sealed that up but notice that this morning there are few scuttling about, hmmm have to get Inspector Montalbano in on ze case!

They are mandibles, basically little furry spider hands that shovel the food into their mouth.

For impressive fangs you need the Sydney Funnel Web ("worlds deadliest spider!") . They will pierce a leather shoe.  The memory of standing on the concrete patio of my ex-inlaws holiday place down on St Georges Basin after I'd just finished windsurfing and was drying off, and glancing down to see a Funnel web about 6 inches from my bare feet in full "I'm about to kill you!" mode -  like this, fangs fully bared and ready to strike is one of those memories that has stayed with me!

I think the tracking with what was recorded delivery, is more a service for the seller than the buyer.  It gives you as a seller proof that the item has reached the buyer, protecting you from unscrupulous buyers claiming that your item has not been delivered to get a refund.

Of course post Covid it doesnt really help when Royal Mail have an irritating habit of just leaving parcels on doorsteps/behind bins etc even when you click the "do not leave in safe place" button...   Which would still result in the parcel being marked as delivered on the tracking...

Replying to your earlier question,  the compensation is to be reduced from £50 to £20 on the Signed For service from early April this year.

On the news tonight there was a guy (in the UK) that was bitten on the hand by a "False Widow Spider" - it was a 999 jobbie and he spent 3 days unconscious in Hospital; the docs on just managed to save his hand and they told him another 12 hours and he would've been a goner - sepsis didn't help either.  Buggerthatforagameofsoldiers.

I saw that a couple of days ago, think it was in Dorset. Whilst he was in hospital a pest control team wnt to his property and under a window they found a large nest of about five hundred of those little critters. What with that and the new menace of Asian hornets whose numbers have doubled in the South of England.

I was using a compression bandage but I found that it wasn't helping very much so I obtained some knee braces and they're a great improvement. They are not expensive either, I purchased two online and it cost me less than £10 including postage.

does that change happen on April 1st?

RM website still shows signed for (1st or 2nd) as £50 compensation and standard 1st/2nd class as £20

still not as good as tracked 48, but proving useful to me as I have a huge amount of stamps to use up

It was mentioned in our local post office recently but i know no more.

If you want it properly tracked, then it needs to be sent using Tracked 24 or Tracked 48. Paradoxically, these services are actually cheaper than the Post Office Signed For service, you can enter the buyers contact details (which are provided by ebay in an encrypted form that can be copied into the order) and they automatically get notifications when its on the way and due to be delivered as well as full tracking.

There are still sellers that insist on using (and charging for) the inferior 'Signed For' service but the Tracked services are the ones to go for.

Problem now with 2nd Signed For is that compensation is now reduced to £20, i have used it for years and its been completely reliable for me. Now if we prefer to use RM we have no choice but to use Tracked 24/48 which with the 48 service can take longer but with compensation upto £150 is better suited plus i can print it and pay at home so less time in the Post Office.I have had some issues using it on Ebay but the Community were able to put me right. For me items delivered have always come RM not Parcelforce. The latter i have found are not so reliable with a recent purchase, i would call an absolute joke!

I ordered something via the well known electronic auction site at the end of last week. The seller advised me that it had been sent and provided a tracking number.

So far, the package has failed to arrive but that's not unusual.

I think it should go through our letter box but I want some idea of when it might arrive so that I can try to be here, just in case it doesn't.

I used the Royal Mail tracking utility. It doesn't indicate it has even got/had the package, shows no transit details and adds:

"An update will only be provided when we attempt to deliver your item"

I wonder if they realise that a good majority of people actually know when something has been delivered because they have it in their hands?

I don't quite follow the "when we attempt to deliver your item" bit. Does that mean when the package leaves our local depot en route to us or when the postman is about to pop the package through the letter box?

Re the last paragraph the answer is ........yes!😉
