  1. Would anyone have any information or ideas on the train types that would have served Devizes 1945-1947? I have created from the 1947 GWR timetable trains that stopped at Devizes. Mostly trains were to and from Trowbridge and Patney and Chirton (would they have subsequently travelled further than this?). A couple of Bristol to Paddington trains seemed to have run through Devizes, but none in the other direction. I count that there were 12 west to east stopping trains and 11 east to west per day, assuming no trains were ever re-directed from the main line to and from Westbury, which would not have stopped at Devizes anyway. I would be very interested to hear/see anything that anyone could share. Pete
  2. Hi Christian it is the older style I was ideally looking for. i May go down the photo etch route and design them myself pete
  3. Hi Alan what a shame. It looks so good but if you know it’s not quite correctly placed then I see why you would want to re-do it. You must be frustrated. Time to pick one of those other 300 to make a start on. I look forward to seeing the next project Pete
  4. Would anyone know where I may source the info plates that were seen on the sides of Brunigbahn coaches? i have several HRF coaches, purchased second hand over many years and only one had information plates contained within and they have Engelberg written on them - not even a Brunigbahn station! Pete
  5. Hi Gordon That you for the Zetland link - not one I had seen before. When you mentioned the change from yellow to white parallelogram I saw this type and assumed this was the change to white parallelogram.
  6. I didn't know Roco did them too. The REE examples do look very good from the photo. Quite a lot of detail looks like it might be present in the interiors. They also do the baggage coach exactly the same but the 'SNCF' is in white - same size and same font. Was this perhaps a transition to the larger wording placed at the end of the side of the coach which was used on later liveries? I now need to look for some SBB UICs. I think Piko and LS might do some. Then some EW Is and some BLS EW Is. I think i need to warn my wallet of some heavy action! I already have a HAG Re 4/4 II in green, which I assume is pulling the train in the photo we are looking at.
  7. Morning all I am modelling in HO. Looking at your suggestions am I right in thinking that yours are N gauge items? Are these the 2 coaches from the photo? These are REE HO coaches.
  8. Thank you Gordonwis. I shall try and replicate this very train for my Interlaken layout. Describing the coaches within the train has helped enormously. I see that REE Modeles do both of the SNCF coaches and there appears to be plenty of options to me for the SBB UIC stock. The fact that it is the period I am modelling adds to the authenticity. You speak of the 1978 Cooks timetable. Is it possible to piece together a fairly realistic day at IO if I were to try and obtain a copy of the timetable somewhere from which to extract the relevant information? You touch upon the green/silver versus green/light grey liveries of the SNCF coaches. I assume the 'SNCF' font changed between the epochs of these coaches?
  9. Thank you - that gives me the opportunity to create a 'realistic' train. The drehscheibe site is excellent. That will be most enjoyable clicking through with a cuppa on the go.
  10. Hi chb All very interesting and great for me to learn from. May I ask if you could give a few examples of BLS and SBB coach types that could typically make up a rake, both for local and national services to and from Interlaken Ost (circa 1979 would be even more magical!) Pete
  11. So a train would be made up of a mixture of SBB and DB coaches? What is the difference between a RIC and UIC coach? I have seen both referred to. Pete
  12. Hi Dave just the era I am looking to portray. Excellent views and thank you for sharing them. i was given the date of BLS coach livery changing to blue and white as 1976 so for my chosen period I can have both livery options. . i love the varying companies and colours I can model. Keep these photos coming, they are wonderful to look at and reminisce; cars, fashion, life in general. Pete
  13. Thank you - I will check to see if anyone has a model for sale. Pete
  14. Thank you for your assistance. I will ensure I get a good airbrush. I have 2 articles from a British railway magazine showing how to achieve Martin Welch's weathering but had never heard of George Dent. I will look out for his book. I assume for the 1970s period most of the 'internal' coaching stock were EW Is? Have you weathered any of these? It is a pity many contributors have lost many photos from the forum. I look forward to your further postings on this thread in the meantime. The transformation of the stock is truly superb. Pete
  15. Thank you jjb. I have only bought 1 each of a Roco, Rivarossi and HAG locomotive and all seem to be fairly representative of the real thing. The Rivarossi BLS Re 4/4 doesn't quite look as good as the same Roco variant which I only found available on foreign sites, but is nonetheless still a decent model. There is a Fulgurex Ce 4/4 available on german ebay, being sold new - highly priced, but looks gorgeous. I didn't know whether to treat myself or not. Pete
  16. Gordonwis - do you happen to know whether I could run SBB CFF green coaches into Interlaken Ost for a period c1978? All photos of the period that I have seen so far have all had BLS (or variant) coaches. If so, would it have been all types of SBB coaches? Pete
  17. Hi i have just seen this thread as I venture into Swiss Railway modelling for the first time. You have made made a fantastic job of the examples shown on here. I too want to have weathered locos and stock and will very much refer to your work once I summon up the courage! Is there a thread of your layout here on RM? Do do you have much reference material on coaches used for the various lines in Switzerland? I am looking at modelling late 1970s Interlaken OST. Much research has been started but I may have opened a can of worms with my choice. All interesting though as I find new information week by week. Pete
  18. HI A bit of a subjective thread, but I am new to all things HO and, whilst I have accumulated a few locos, wondered which were deemed the best if a league table existed. Starting off, would this be a fair order of a top 5?: 1 HRF 2 Fulgurex 3 Roco 4 HAG 5 Rivarossi
  19. Thank you for this Mike. Sounds like there were a whole host of codes from that excerpt. Pete
  20. I didn't know how to word the thread title if I am honest. I have edited the title now. Thank you both for your possible answers. Pete
  21. Hi I wonder if anyone can assist. I have a copy of the 'Passenger Train Working' for Oxford Station' 1947 and within the listed trains and formations is the following for 10.15pm Shrewsbuty to Paddington train: C.T. Formed: Van Paddington, Siphon G Paddington, 2 vans Paddington, 5 coaches etc..... What does 'C.T.Formed' mean? Pete
  22. Tremendous photos I am modelling 1970s so they are all a little after the period I am looking for. I do have a photo of a BOB coach within a green coached Brunig train. I think both companies helped each other out. I have never seen a red brunig coach in a BOB train before.
  23. I had considered repainting Brunig coaches - much more available. The livery of my chosen period is a simple cream top-brown bottom livery. I would have to find decals to suit which may be difficult. I would like a few railcars which I think may be harder to find/convert. The one I do have is a H-R-F model no. 303. I will keep searching and surfing.
  24. That is interesting The Roco version has a date on the side of 1972 so must be in it's factory new state. I assume this number was amended every time it paid a visit to the Werkstatt as my various loco and coach stock currently carrying some very differing dates (until I get some comparable transfers to change them to my era.
  25. I am building Interlaken Ost station (or at least as much of it that will fit into my garage!) circa 1970s and have started to purchase BLS and SBB stock to suit. I have many SBB Brunig items already but only have one BOB railcar and one coach. Does anyone know of a source of BOB stock somewhere that I can purchase? I have trawled the 'net but alas to no avail Pete
