  1. I am looking to change the dates on my HO swiss loco stock to fit into my period of modelling (1979) but am struggling to find dates when locos went in for maintenance and subsequently had their date changed on the locomotive sides. Is their a website to find this information or a book on the various classes of swiss locos? I haven't been able to find either via internet surfing thus far. Pete
  2. Thank you. unfortunately my layout is set in the late 1970s so I will have to hope Piko issue an earlier version of it.
  3. Good evening all. i have been on the lookout for a SBB Rbe 4/4 in plain green livery. I see that Piko do/did a green livery but with a red end. Does anyone know the significance of the different colour end? Was it for a certain line, region, or specific period at all? Pete

  5. Morning Gordonwis Thank you for linking the 2 photos as the same type of coach. In the photo of the full train the UIC looked taller ie a domed roof whereas the coach in Marktplasse looks lower. Pete
  6. Thanks Mark. I had assumed so but am just finding my feet in all things Swiss still.
  7. Can anyone distinguish what type the second coach along is? It appears to be SBB but taller than the first and all other SBB coaches beyond the 2 SNCF coaches.
  8. I have Claude Jeanmaire’s excellent and thorough book on all things Brunigbahn but one thing puzzles me. locos 901-916 are referred to in the photographs as: Fhe 4/6, Feh 4/6, Geh 4/6 and Ghe 4/6. They all look the same in every photograph. Am I missing something? Pete
  9. Paul - I literally found this on YouTube yesterday. Wonderful stuff. I remember buying both videos and loving Filisur. It was the reason I started being interested in modelling Swiss railways! i wonder if the layout still exists? Pete
  10. Thank you, both. I find it very interesting to accumulate knowledge in this way. You can't beat tapping into guys with a lot of swiss railway knowledge. I am seriously considering modelling St Moritz in early 1970s condition. I have the track plan as at 1966 which wouldn't I assume have changed much by early 1970s. So the line to Chur will have stahlwagens fronted by Ge 4/4 is, Ge 6/6 I & IIs, Ge 4/6s with I assume Ge 2/2 or Tm 2/2s buzzing around on shunting duties. Meanwhile the Bernina platforms will have ABe 4/4 I & IIs to-ing and fro-ing with the odd RhB coach and a couple of wagons in tow. Pete
  11. Before the days of red locomotives what locomotives were used on the Bernina line from Tirano to St Moritz in the late 60s early 70s? I assume Ge 6/6 Is, Ge 2/4s, Ge 4/6s (all in brown livery) and ABe 4/4 I railcars (in yellow or red?) were the DC locos. Would standard RhB coaches be used or did the Berninabahn have different liveries too? Presumably the Albula line to St Moritz used green Ge 4/4 Is and Ge 6/6 IIs before the Ge 4/4 IIs were introduced in 1973? Pete
  12. I am starting to tackle some Cambrian kits for my IOW 4mm layout and want to improve the kit with better brake lever and buffers details. can anyone point me in the right direction to look? Pete
  13. Hi Have you been working on any conversions lately? I do enjoy seeing examples of your excellent work. Pete
  14. Thanks Mike for the formation. I do have a couple of photos- one a complete SR rake and the other GWR with a couple of Maunsell strengtheners. Hard to distinguish much after the first couple of coaches though due to the angle of the photo taken. Pete
  15. Can anyone assist with the formations of bothSR coaches and GWR coaches used on this service post war please? Any information or photographic evidence would be gratefully received. Pete
  16. Your Rocar C77 looks lovely. How long ago did Rodney build it for you? Torre really is looking superb now. Well done.
  17. Harrowing but a very interesting read none the less Keith, thank you. I have read stories of POW trains stopping down the up platform to be closer to the road to march the POWs to Devizes POW camp. It must have been a site. Kids used to hide and throw stones at them! Pete
  18. Kevin Wonderful layout. I look forward to the morning photo every time I log on. Could I ask how you achieved the yard flooring for the farm. I am modelling a station that will have a large area of goods yard and the effect I am looking for is exactly what you have achieved. Pete
  19. Spot on Keith. I only have a colour photo from 1947 of Newport but have read that the tank sides were painted malachite. My period of modelling (1950) only had 2 types of locomotive put 5 different loco liveries and 2 coach liveries. Pete
  20. GeoffBird, in answer to your comments on W34 'Newport' , she wasn't actually painted in Malachite, but a lighter shade. The only IOW loco to be painted this colour. A few IOW books are containing colour photos now and there is certainly evidence that she was lighter - even referred to in the text of one of the books. For authenticity I would change her name and numbers to one of the other O2s that were actually painted Malachite. I would think that this will be a simple task. The nameplates are ready available and so to the number transfers. I assume the existing decals will come off easily with something. Pete
  21. Thank you Martin I will try and find copies of these issues as I have some but not the ones listed. Pete
  22. Thank you Gordon I had ordered the Priddle & Hyde book which is still in transit. Pete
