  1. Thanks to everyone who have chipped in with either words of wisdom or photos - most helpful. My Roco TEE livery Re 4/4 II is no. 11251 which is actually included within these photos (via link) so that really helps. I have ordered some BLS green coaches off ebay so soon shall have a train to match the photos. Just need some further track down to emulate the 4 standard gauge lines within the 'top' end of Interlaken Ost. Pete
  2. Thank you for the information. i especially like the photo of the train on platform 5 with the Brünig Bahn train waiting in platform 4. So no TEE. Typical having just bought a Roco Re 4/4 in TEE livery. Looks like I need to acquire the same loco but in SBB livery. if there are any more photos of the period or information that would help me I would love to hear from anyone. can you still buy BLS coaches in HO for this period? pete
  3. Hi I am looking at building a close representation of Interlaken Ost but in the 1970s/1980s. Whilst I have some knowledge on BOB and Brunig bahn I have no idea what standard gauge trains ran into the station. I assume brown BLS locos with blue and cream coaches. Did TEE run into Interlaken Ost at this time in their blood and custard liveries? Also did most trains terminate here and run round their train or did any run into Bonigen? Pete
  4. I would call the phone number but my german is limited to 'my favourite actor is, hello, goodbye and thank you'!!!!!!
  5. Hi Does anyone know if Messingers in Switzerland is still trading? I have previously bought a number of items from Beat Bonati there, but he hasn't replied to a recent email to both him and info@ messingers.ch emails.
  6. Very nice modelling. I lived a short distance away in Minworth so recall looking at the station. I too am now based in the Black Country. It it looks pretty much complete, if there is such a thing as a completed layout. Pete
  7. I recently bought 'The book of the Granges' - not sure if this is the same book you have ordered. There are photos of every Grange and a list of light, heavy and Intermediate repair dates together with the attached tender assigned. The photos are all dated 1948 onwards although there are a few locos still in GWR livery within these dates. It's all a bit of a minefield isn't it ! Pete
  8. Thank you Robin Eastbury was a Newton Abbot loco in 1946. I assume both were NA locos in 1947 then? Pete
  9. Would anyone have or be able to point be in the direction of a 1947 photo of an unlined green GWR Grange with a 3500 gallon tender at all? I have a Mitchell kit built model of a Grange now naked awaiting a rename and repaint to my modelling period but have not had any joy in the search of a suitable photograph. If she happened to be a Didcot, Reading or Old Oak Common engine, even better. Thanks in advance Pete
  10. I missed this lovely little corner of the world. Welcome back all.
  11. In GWR times would there have been many trains going through and many coaches on the trains or a 1 or 2 behind a pannier type of thing?
  12. I live in Rowley Regis and I’d like an evening out of the place!
  13. Happy birthday Nick. just laughed at your Paris post. i have sent you a post but lord knows if I put it on the correct section. Are you able to see any message from me? regards Pete
  14. Hi Nick

having read your post, all be it written in 2014.

i am looking at modelling Culham on the Oxford to Didcot line c1947 and the timetable of the period show many Oxford trains to Didcot, Reading or London. Do you still have the information available that you wouldn’t mind passing on regarding possible train formations?

    kind regards

    Pete

  15. Wishful thinking on my behalf! I think many modellers are the same - periods of activity on a layout then some time not touching it. I have a garage getting ever closer to being layout ready but the thought of building baseboards and track I wish I could fast forward to the buildings and scenery section - much more my forte. I will continue to look at the Torre thread with great interest. Pete
  16. Another nice scenic additional to what is an excellent layout. It is a pity, for whatever reason, you have lost for mojo for it. I would be prepared to buy it from you in the current state if you no longer wanted it. Very cheeky comment but who wouldn't want to own the kernel of what I am sure will be a magnificent layout. Pete
  17. Absolutely stunning modelling. You have captured the town perfectly. I look forward to seeing this progress further with the addition of the station area being added to. What space have you needed to model the area? Pete
  18. Hi Chris I do admire these modellers who choose a huge project and get it to 'magazine' standard over many years and do not deviate Kingstorre, Bristol Barrow Road, Retford etc....). Most of us alas are more like you - starting a layout, stopping, commencing something else, acquiring something else....I am in that boat too. Space time and finance always seems to restrict our idyll. I researched Cowes for years and collated rolling stock. Then looked at Merstone and made a start on that. Then deviated to HOm SBB-Brunig research with view to building some Swiss stations in my garage. Where am I now...confused, 25 years down the line, nothing to show for it other than much cash spent in the form of various rolling stock and a large knowledge collected of IOW and Swiss railways! I will look with great interest at your latest project of Cowes, Newport and especially Smithards Lane crossing - ideal cameo opportunity with the level crossing and the sloped road down to the Medina. Now, which one of my attempted layouts will I pick up and run with................ Pete
  19. Hi Joseph, I was researching the IOW with view to building a layout hence the handle. my test track is analogue. I have sent the seller, who sells railway items online, a question to see if he tested it. For the price I paid I assume I’ll have rights buying via eBay.
  20. I very recently purchased (off ebay) a HRF Deh 4/6 SBB Brunig locomotive which looks cracking and is in very good condition. I placed it onto my mocked up test track however and nothing happened. Looking on the underside of the model there is a switch which I flicked across and tried again. All to no avail. I tried one of my BEMO equivalents and it worked fine. Have I bought a dud or do HRF pick up their electric from the pantograph perhaps? This is the first HRF loco I have ever bought and I was looking at another but I am concerned I might have the same problem with that. Does anyone have any ideas, thoughts or suggestions? Pete
  21. Thank you guys - very helpful. I now have fairly accurate siding lengths and can therefore judge fairly well the lengths of the stations I wish to model. I have decided to use the majority of the track plan of Meiringen as my fiddle yard. It seems pointless to have such a large area as a hidden fiddle yard when I can add some scenery and actually spend more time, probably fiddling the yards than using the other 2 intended stations, Brünig and Brienz.
  22. Yes it is one of mine too. It is amazing how busy Giswil looks, with coach storage apparent. Both Giswil and Meiringen locos present too.
  23. Does anyone know a site containing Brünig Bahn track plans. There appears to be more going on at both Brünig Hasilberg and Brienz on older photos compared to google maps views of present day. Otherwise maybe there here is a publication out there? Pete
