  1. So I watched two minutes of the game yesterday, and Ireland scored a try! That's six minutes of live viewing across the six nations and we ship three tries. If I'd watch all the Welsh games we would have the wooden spoon! Then to Orpington Liberal Club for the Calcutta Cup and saw the last ¾ of the game. Glee!! England have a serious leadership problem and it's not just down to Farrell. After the third Scotland try, someone should have decided the forwards put the ball up their jumpers and take ten minutes off the clock; but no, there is a rigidity to the England thinking progress. And a reliance on the Coach - note the different ways Jones and Gatland manage their teams. Anyway, back to Farrell: he should have been carded after that shoulder charge, there was no attempt either to tackle the player or charge down the kick. Bad refereeing, compounded by not blowing up immediately because potentially their was a serious injury. And he was an Aussie, so no attempt to referee the scrums, the Scottish front row got away with dropping several scrums. So today, church, a walk round Greenwich Park and most of the day wiring the layout in the garage. Keep well all, Bill
  2. Afternoon most, evening John, just watched Italy batter at the French defence for the best part of 80 minutes and be burgled three times. I know Parrisse is an iconic player but it is his style of play and Italy may improve after he retires. On the prowl for the next couple of hours as I've watched two minutes of Wales this season and they have leaked a try both times. Self denying ordnance. The to Orpington for the Calcutta Cup and a couple of beers. Keep well all, Bill
  3. Afternoon awl, Taking a break from wiring the layout. Another who won't be at Ally Pally, rather I'm at the Spur Null Tage in Gießen, near Framkfurt. Keep well awl, Bill
  4. You're casting dispersions. In the manner of an Australian prop, they could achieve a fair lick of speed. They just failed in their primary purpose - holding up a scrum / pulling more than a brake van. Bill
  5. Missing for a couple of days, being at Diocesan Synod yesterday then shopping in Oxford Street. Home to watch the Irish - French girls rugby international, a heck of a lot better than today's dross. Two of the Irish tries should have been disallowed, Best was tackled (knees on ground) before he lunged for the line and a French defender was obstructed from tackling Sexton. Once Ireland gained their bonus point, they totally switched off and withdrew key players before the Welsh game. And the five minutes of scrums to get the French prop carded were a total fiasco. Keep well all, Bill
  6. An enquiry is an analysis of the facts, civil law is a balance, criminal law requires 100% certainty (by at least 10 of the jurors). I rest my case. Bill
  7. There was a perfectly good system, called DOS. Since when technology has gone downhill. I can manage Excel spreadsheets (but not as good as Lotus) but otherwise, forget it. Bill
  8. Evening awl, You may remember that Don Bradley wrote four volumes on the Locomotives of the LSWR. When he died, he bequeathed his photographic albums to the South Western Circle and I've volunteered to catalogue them. So I've sat in the front room most of the day, identifying locomotives whilst either watching the athletics or listening to Radio 3. Long task! Meanwhile, our Chris is wending his way back to Blighty. Bill
  9. As a rough guide, an image is in copyright if: the author is known and he/she died less than 70 years ago the author is unknown, but the image was first published less than 70 years ago. You can legally own a copy of an image in copyright, but that does not give you a right to publish the image, including on the internet. Bill
  10. Morning awl, Did anyone watch Question Time last night? Because it came from my old school, St Dunstan Catford. I noted the mess the BBC had made of the Great Hall, then turned off when the first began to speak. Bill
  11. So my mother came from Rhyl; the relevance of this post being it would have been here 101st birthday today. Bill
  12. Back from the wilds of East Surrey. Not certain, but I think I saw Mrs Roundhouse on the train out of LB on Wednesday. She got off before I could say "hi". Bill
  13. God moves in mysterious ways, welcoming Southwalk Diocese Council of Trustees to Redhill! Bill
  14. ... but his bark is worse than his bite. Bill
  15. I'll be missing for a couple of days, at a Diocesan Trustees meeting, not too far distant from Ian (Roundhouse). Back Friday. Bill
  16. Evening awl, An exile in self denial mode. Wales lose whenever I watch, so I was reliant upon the Hippo post. Also at Tenterden today, leaving at lunch time for a trip on the K&ESR. Keep well all, Bill
  17. Evening all, Well I now have another BR 50 sitting in front of me - I think I had better stop at three! Also a Prussian van with an almost flat roof, which together with the Abteilwagen will break up the profile of the Thunderboxes in the local train. Funny how the Germans like order and symmetry, whilst the British are the converse. Also a lot of flexitrack, so I spent the afternoon in the garage painting it "weathered wood". Keep well all, Bill
  18. Morning all (just). A Teutonic parcel has just arrived and needs to be opened. Meanwhile our Chris and THE TIE have departed from Australia and are now in New Zealand. As they spent the last few days in Sydney, I'm sure the tie received suitable exposure. Bill
  19. Morning awl, Back from SB late last night. By my reckoning, our Chris is in Melbourne and probably spent the day on the trams and the evening on the beer. Meanwhile the Bedford branch of the LCGB are wondering how they have the minutes of the Bedford branch of the LGTB, and vice versa. Keep well , Bill
  20. Looking at my Ffestiniog booklet, our Chris is halfway along The Ghan, in the vicinity of Alice Springs. Bill
  21. Does it come with a first aid kit? Bill
  22. As usual, we exchanged "not Valentines" cards. Little to report except I've had a hair cut . Off to Southwark Bridge tomorrow. Bill
  23. Got bounced off the forum a few minutes ago. Anyone else? Not much to report. There was a Robinson's jam factory in Bellingham, in fact I'm about to be 100 meters from it. Was known by a racist name we don't use any more. Keep well all, Bill
