  1. Prague and Berlin .............. we will be relatively safe from buses. But there are trams! Off to court, Bill.
  2. Evening awl, Funny old day. Got to court, signed in, put on a jury, sworn in --------------------- and sent home. So off to German class; sadly our Sara Cox lookalike is emigrating to Berlin in the summer. Back in court tomorrow, before my European Railway Group meeting in the evening. So off to bed. Bill
  3. One of whom is a hippopotamus amphibious and is trundling in your direction as I type. Bill
  4. Um, charming gentleman. I chatted with him at Ally Pally when he worked for Dapol. When I pointed out there were one or two errors pertaining to their 7mm private owner wagon, he very charmingly advised me what I could do to a certain part of my anatomy. Haven't wished to have any dealings since. Bill
  5. Off to jury service then German class. Back late. Bill
  6. A quick warning to those of us who haven't converted our investments into modelling tokens. Our beloved Chancellor has seriously reduced the investment allowance before which there is a tax liability. It was £2,000 for dividends in the last tax year. Not sure what it is for interest received, but then in the present climate who keeps more than a few bob in cash. Bill
  7. Oh dear Paul, No lighting rig, dead straight, foreign - are you not going to receive flack on RMWeb! Bill PS - my layout meets all the above criteria as well.
  8. Day 1 of Belmarsh Crown Court. Obviously nothing to report. Bill
  9. Starting jury service tomorrow, so brief appearances for up to a fortnight. Bill
  10. Evening awl, A very long day at Lord's. A bad result for me on the pitch, but a very successful day for the first aid team. Cannot divulge most of it, but I was in charge of one of the teams and we did treat someone in the pavilion and then spent a couple of hours on the hallowed grass. I was thinking: "Fidel Edwards, do not knock his head off, because it would be me sticking it back on." Bath, bed, then Railex tomorrow. Keep well awl, Bill
  11. Evening awl, I shall be bending your collective ears about a replacement computer, but not tonight as I've already run the bath. Early to bed as I'm up at the crack of dawn to Lord's. I have to kick a final charge into the SJA radios. Meanwhile I have Mahler 7 on the radio. Keep well all. Bill
  12. Morning awl, Apologies for any pomposity last night. Just done my bit for democracy. Quite a long ballot paper of nine "parties" and twelve independents. I voted d'Hondt.. Phoned by a John Lewis bot, my delivery will be between 14:33 and 16:33 - love the precision. So a day of the g word and the m word. Keep well awl, Bill
  13. Evening awl, I may be alone in this, but I don't think we should be offering lifestyle advise to Chris. He is in a complex emotional situation, which may be affecting his mental and physical well being. We should "listen" to him and give him all our support. Bill
  14. I have: posted my donation to the Market Deeping mrc. sent a gentle e-mail to the Grauniad, noting that the Chairman, vice Chairman, Secretary and Exhibition Manager of the St Neots mrc (who had a layout trashed at Stamford) are all women. Bill
  15. Team, Are there enough of us at Railex this Sunday, to have an ER meet? Chris and I will be there, so THE TIE and a yellow hi-viz will be flaunted. Richard (HH) - this is an excellent show, so if you are in the vicinity and can obtain a pass-out for good behaviour ..... Bill
  16. Afternoon awl, I didn't mention it earlier (superstition) but it was my CFR revalidation today. It's quite tough, a scenario then questions on the illnesses we may attend (diabetes, stroke, seizure, shock, choking etc). Anyway, I passed so the inhabitants of South East London must cope with me for another couple of years. Home and cracked open a beer! Keep well awl, especially those of you in S E London. Bill
  17. Brian, Apparently not all birthday cards have locomotives on them. Aged about ten, my kid sister asked if she could have a horsey card. So next time she got one of a Gresley A3. Bill
  18. Evening awl, A general question but I think I know who will answer it. What is a typical size of a sheet of roofing corrugated iron? Day out with the Stroke Club to a winery in Kent Guess who didn't indulge in the tasting, but went for a traipse around the estate, because I did a fair chunk of my Christian Aid collecting tonight. Home, to the end of the Dream of Gerontius and a catch up with RMWeb. Bill
  19. Thanks Bob, they are my preferred source as well. Bill
  20. Thanks for the reminder, I've a £25 warrant to bank. Bill
  21. GDB, The PC is reaching the end of its natural life and I'm thinking of replacing it with a laptop. As I'm a convinced Dell user, I'm wondering what you are acquiring? But I will need enough ports to connect to the interwebby thing, a tethered mouse and possibly a separate screen. Bill
  22. Chris,, Just keep well away from those nasty buses! Bill
  23. I was going to invent a new word for Chris, but "omniphobia" already exists. Like the King, I sometimes speed-read; the vision of Chris dancing in boot, spangly shorts, bobble hat and the TIE .... Christian Aid collecting then practice for my requalification. so no EM this weekend. Bill
