  1. a) Omnipresent - not that there's been any breach of rules in this case and payment for advertising does not confer any privileges.

    b) More pertinently; how long have you had free access to the site for one of your routes to market?

Not for a while now as i've been advertising in the magazine for quite some time, as your aware.

As for privalidges? i'm not asking for them, merely some, and this needs to be for all, anti troll measures. It doesnt help RMW or by association BRM if such trolls are not seen as such and removed for what they are once their agenda's are seen. It actually ruins what you yourself started many years ago and thats a forum for modellers, discource, laughs, generally informative etc.

Oh And its always usually the ones who join just to do so as well.

Nothing pertinent in their arguments, merely trying to stir the pot.

Edited for 'fat finger' typing with auto correct off.

  2. Are you saying that you knew what others were working on and for how long then?

Sorry whoever you are, but i am not going to rise to any of this from you.

24-25 posts and mostly all are either slating me, or my work. (i encourage all here to check the posts out for verification)

I wonder if indeed you are the REAL 'Bill Schmidt', and i hope not.

I've said what i'm going to say and that's it. where's a moderator when you need one?

To think, i actually have to pay to get this kind of stuff now!

  3. I'm sorry to hear that Dave.

Have you got a formal contract with this so called 'Webmaster'?

Now you've tracked him down and pinned him down, what is his excuse for not going live this weekend?

    ATVB,

    CME

He's not responding to his personal mails, or the phone or texts mate so i have no idea!

The contract said 1 week from June 2nd and due to getting Lloyds Click safe on board for the e-commerce package, they too 3 weeks to examine, question, and then finally approve and link / test etc.

So to be fair, that's all of June used up.

As the web site currently stands it's been ready to go live since the 1st or second week of July.

I have mailed and texted this morning but have yet to receive a reply, and hope it's because he's working on getting it live today!

  4. That's kinda flawed logic isn't it. What's to say that others were not working on theirs before they announced them? Both the Hornby King and class 71 were well advanced and reached the shops first if we're being accurate.

The only accuracy that matters is accuracy, and in that you are inaccurate.

  5. Hi everyone,

Despite being promised a 'going live' on Friday night / Saturday, it has , as of Sunday morning 08.20, failed to happen.

I can only apologise to those wishing to place APT / King orders and hope that it happens today.

    Thanks and sorry

    Dave

  6. Well that didn’t work with the OO King/CL71/Q6 that Hornby were already well underway with or the HUO that accurascale were underway with, the class 92 that RevolutioN were underway with, all prior to DJM announcements of the same products in the same scale.

I’m not saying there’s a pattern of DJM announcing DJM products of the same items already in development by other manufacturers, even more bizarrely from two previous clients/partners of DJM, but it’s a remarkable set of ‘unfortunate’ coincidences.

King, Class 71 and the 92 were all underway by myself before others announced them. just dropping that here for accuracy sake.

  7. It may or may not be of interest to those on this topic, but i was asked to survey both ROD's at the Dorrigo Steam Museum a good few years back. The project never came to anything but the photographs may be of interest to some of you, as they contain some of the photographs i took for the photo part of the survey.

If i remember correctly they had a GC and a GWR version there.

    try www.davejonesphotography/zenfolio

then 'trains of the world' folder

    Then 'Dorrigo Railway Museum'

Then, enjoy. It was fun in the sun and long grass watching for snakes and spiders, and i had exclusive access for this. Quite fun watching coach trips come up the adjoining road full of tourists, to turn round and go back down the road and not able to get out of the coach.

The place is recommended if you can get access, and reminded me from looking out the cab window down the boiler of a ROD of Barry Scrapyard in its heyday.

Hope some of you find it of interest.

    Cheers

  8. When i was with my previous company, and the year we introduced the Hymek and 9F in N gauge, i attended Warley show with the main stand, and a well known modeller and his dad came over, waited patiently while i dealt with other customers ahead in the queue, then asked me there and then to repair a locomotive he had purchased through a shop the previous week that was faulty.

When i explained we were at the show to talk and show new product and we never do repairs on the stand anyway, the nice father decided to raise his voice and F & B at me, swearing prolifically for about 2-3 minutes before calling me a 'see you next Tuesday' very loudly and walking round the other side of the stand to talk to George Smith, getting the same answer, and berating him in much the same way with the same language.

If you were there amongst that, may i add a belated apology that you had to hear one of your fellow modellers abuse like that in front of children and adults alike.

He never returned the model to either us or the model shop as far as i am aware though.

What a gentleman. Some people eh?

  9. Hi everyone,

Please find below the cad/cam for King3

The models (all 3 will now have my mechanism fitted by the designer, and weight balance / distribution calculations made before tooling starts).

With this in mind, i will keep orders available to be made right up until tooling starts in around 2 -3 weeks maximum.

Once the order book shuts, no more King orders will be taken by anyone, and the amount we have to make will be known, and apart form a very few extras for repairs / replacements, that will be it.

so, if you want a King, or know anyone that wants a king or kings, get ready for the new website going live very soon, to be able to start ordering immediately.

    Cheers

    Dave

  10. Hi guys,

Just a quick note to let you know that the scanning company are aware of all the faults found, from the lack of corridor connectors on some vehicles, to the lower side body brackets, to the anaemic bogies, and of course, the lifting nose and details, plus roof panel lines...... etc etc.

they are merely the latest cad/cams and ones that will, of course, not be the final ones from them as they work through snagging for us.

    Cheers

  11. Hi everyone,

To whet everyone who might be interested's 'whistle', here are the latest cad/cam's of the APT that was scanned at the laser scanning party at Crewe Heritage Centre on 2nd June this year. Please note there is still some work to do to finish the cad/cam model

The new web site is promised to go live on Friday or Saturday evening, and those that have already expressed an interest, or new customers who haven't previously done so can 'express their interest' by pre-ordering directly from the site. Please note that previous orders will be removed from our systems along with customer details.

Only when enough pre-orders have been registered will customers be able to pay their deposit via a separate internal link specifically for them, and once the order book closes and tooling is about to begin, the APT in N will only be available, like its OO counterpart, at a higher RRP.

  12. That sounds like my plumber. . . expect it in December . with a drip somewhere.

and waiting for a white goods delivery..... sometime on Wednesday, but really they mean thursday...... or friday...............or or or. lol

  13. Well the update is that due to some great detective work, (thank you, you know who you are), the web guy was traced, he contacted me and i think its going live tonight.

Now, before we all get excited, there are a couple for pages i need to get put on there, and although it really needed testing, i hope you'll all bear with the look, and info available which i'll add as i go over the next week or so.

I hope to be sending out the mail with the new link on, Friday to all crowdfunders who paid.

Thanks for all your help and advice guys. Fingers crossed i can start moving forward again properly now.

    Cheers

  14. Hi Dave, sorry to hear you are having even more problems....one day they will all be behind you.

Like you, I am no IT wizz.  My advice (as someone who will not even use contactless), is keep things simple.  At the moment DJModels is a one person enterprise - why does it need an all singing, all dancing Website?  If I go the pub, I want a decent pint of beer - not bar staff answering e-mails and "tweeting".  Likewise, from DJM, I want a really good Class 92 and APT!  I can appreciate, that many modellers may have valuable input into ensuring that the models are highly accurate, and no-doubt you will find their appraisal of use, but apart from that and, updates on progress and advising me when payments are due, then as a customer, that is all I need from the internet, likewise for DJModels, you need the internet presence to be a marketing tool, not an hinderance.

Why carn't you have a simple website to promote your products, and simply when people show interest in crowdfunding items, take their details, generate an invoice including bank payments details, send it to them, let them use the invoice number as the reference, which you can then cross reference when they pay up, to the model(s) ordered, then add them to the mailing list for future payments as, and when they become due/available.

    For example OO APT:

    OO370-00001, OO370-00002, etc.

    NGauge APT:

    N370-00001, N370-00002, etc.

    NGauge King:

    N60XX-00001, N60XX-00002 etc.

If I were you, I'd be speaking to my Business Banking Manager, to sort out a really simple system (and possibly, with the crowdfunding, have sub-accounts for each product i.e. 92, APT etc.) and to ensure that payments would be permitted, without alarms over money laundering etc..

    Best Wishes,

    C.

    Hi mate,

Good post and some interesting points.

The idea for online integrated e-commerce was a few fold actually....

    1) to lessen my need to input all transactions manually, as it would be done by the site and lloyds (and if you've ever tried putting 400+ customer details into a database etc, boy it ruins your day or 2 or 3 ;-)

    2) to give a more professional front end 'experience'  (god i hate that word in this context, lol) and the auto generation of paperwork my end too.

It also breeds confidence rather than a simple paypal thingy. and as mentioned wont, due to the arrangements i have with lloyds flag issues that dont exist.

Oh, and today's update.................. letters by 'Special Delivery' sent yesterday, awaiting post office confirmation as to their delivery before 1pm today.

    Cheers

    Dave

  15. I've only worked in IT for 30 years now, probably don't know what I'm talking about ...

Personally I'd wait until Dave has chance to follow up on this, it might be a genuine mistake and trying to hack around in other peoples work is not going to go down well,

    Hi mate,

normally i'd agree wih you, as he has said he has had family and i.t. problems, but t contract was for a web site ready for loyds to check and get intergrated within 1 week.

Thawas on the 2nd June, and things hae gotten slower and slower with excuses or nothing.. No response to e-mails, that are simply now bouncing, no picking up the phone to my calls, no responses to my texts to his mobile......simply nothing. And has been nothing for the last 9 days now on all formats. i've mailed his personal e-mail and his 'sales@' work e-mail (although they may be combined), and still nothing.

and a bit 'deja vu' i checked on companys house and he missed his confirmation date and still hasnt filed it up to this morning and its 6 weeks late!

now i dont think i have any other choice to be honest, i need the web site ive paid for now, not next week or the week after.

i dont want to get tough with the guy, but this last 2 years has tought me that being Mr Nice guy isnt helping me one bit as you get sh a t on more than you get cake.

    hope you understand my frustration.

    Cheers

    Dave

  16. There's no diference i'm afraid to large sums of money going into an account, whether private or business over a short period of time, setting off the e-bay/paypal algorithms and being on hold again.
