Thanks for this amazing entry. Must try out it myself with some figures in the future to realise some realistic delivery scenes.

Looks nice. Have a good show.

Lovely work, very atmospheric and tells so many stories. Only one small pedantic question: The position of the chimneys seems to suggest the fireplaces near the middle of the room rather than against the party wall where they would normally be?
I used a reference picture for the shops. On the picture the chimney's where placed in this position. Because it was a 1959 picture I can not explain the reason for this.

This one of my favourite layouts. Love the atmosphere you have created.

Hi Job, good to see it finished. One of the things I like about your dioramas is how they show ordinary everyday scenes, and yet there are many stories hidden within them when you look closer. Just like real life. Little Margaret and the rabbits for example. And the signs and lettering, which add a lot to the atmosphere. Emily Robbins is one of your most characterful shop fronts yet, I think.
I wonder where Arthur is off to next :-)
I agree about the sign.
Arthur will leave Northall for his next deliveries. There ars some nice villages around Northall, which are served by British Railways.

Lovely modelling Job. Your work is so atmospheric and evocative of 1950s Britain! Marlyn
Thanks for the compliment.
-
Thanks. Looking forward to your next entry.

Thanks Job, I'm glad if there is something you can use. Maybe for some lamps on Northall?
I have just received some Edwardian figures from Andrew Stadden.

Loved the movie.
Adding people makes the trains to Sproston more alive.
I like that.

Excellent entry. With some useful information for me. Again some nice details for your Farthing diorama's.
-
The model is already looking great.

Modelling in my experience is a very good mindful activity, that can help you through some difficult moments. Wish you a lot of strength in the coming period.
Will follow your modelling progress.

Love these nicely modelled horses and carts.

Love that track detailing. A great addition to your beautiful layout.

I am new to RMWeb, Job. Enjoying reading your blog. Monday was washday and most kitchens had a ceiling mounted, ‘pulley’ (air drying rack). On wet Mondays the washing was brought indoors and newspaper had to be put on the floor to soak up any drips, while we sat and had our evening meal ‘tea’ around the kitchen table.
Thanks for that useful information.

Wow, this has really come out well Job. Even though I have been following the build I thought the first picture was real when I began scrolling down. The colours look just like those East End photos. The yellow light adds a very nice afternoon effect too.
I hope Margaret will be allowed to have the rabbits - and that Ponto will stay away from them!
Thanks Mikkel.
The diorama will by for Yvette, my granddaughter. They have at home some dogs and rabbits. They go along quite well under supervision. She kindly provided me with some pictures of het rabbits.
So I think that Margaret is also able to learn Ponto that he has to accept the rabbits.

Those grooves are printed? How on earth do you get that 3D effect?
The reason that I've eschewed card is because it's too 2D.
Thanks for your comment.
For the 3D effect I use high quality textured photo papers, for instance canvas for the brick walls.
The pavement grooves are made using a fine embossing pen.
I know it is more expensive and takes more time to model. But it is worth the effort.

Hi Job - was just about to sign off when I saw your new blog entry. Very atmospheric and detailed modelling and I love the storyline.. Marlyn
Thanks for the compliment. The storyline brings every thing alive.

I love that first photo.

Great informative blog entry with nice pictures.

Looks great.

Ha!, that's a well thought out view of Leonard and Albert . I like how you can only see part of them, very clever.
By comparison the pet shop window looks a little empty from a distance (apart from the rabbits). On the other hand, I suppose shop windows weren't always so fancy back then.
Thanks for the compliment of the use of the figures in the barbershop.
I agree with the emptiness of the pet shop window. That is no problem, because I have planned a figure in front of the shop window.

Job, its looking good as ever, keep the updates coming
This project is not yet finished, so there will come some updates.

Hi Job, Park Drive reminds me of my time at school, we used to nip to the corner shop and buy one cigarette and share it between two or three of us, don't smoke now of course. Happy New Year to you and keep up the great modelling..
