  1. My 1kg tub of Mae Ploy arrived and I made a curry according to the directions on the back. It was really tasty but....... It wasn't yellow!, not like the Yellow Curry sold by the Annie's Thai Restaurant in March. I wonder if she adds Turmeric? The Mae Ploy has more heat too, and is thicker. Ate a second bowl of it tonight and I can see a third on the horizon pretty soon.

  3. I know, we get a lot of this in our local area, so now we not only have dog crap but we have plastic bags which take god knows how long to decay and, when they do, there is dog crap on the floor!! Thing is, where we walk our dogs,we often see the bags left about 5 yards from the poo bin.

  6. Quick moan about certain dog owners; Parked up at Fairbourne last week, to look at the railway and take a walk with the wife and the dog. Weather was quite good and we had a nice walk by the railway. We didn't go on the beach because it was quite clearly signed that dogs were only allowed on certain parts of the beach until the end of September, and by the time we got to the dog friendly part my wife's knee was hurting (it's a partial replacement) so we kept to the path. On the way back a couple with a collie passed us and were walking towards the car-park. When we got to the non dog part of the beach said couple were on the sand throwing a ball to the dog. The dog then did what dogs always do when they're out for a walk. Right in the middle of the beach. The woman owner stood over him, literally scratching her head, while the male owner looked the other way. The woman then dug a small hole in the sand with her heel and kicked the dog produce into it. My wife and I watched in amazement. Why do people have to ignore clear signs like the ones displayed?, and why don't they carry poo bags with them, they don't weigh a lot. I seem to have spare bags in all my coats as you can pretty much guarantee that your little fur bag will leave a souvenir whenever you go for a walk. I just think it is pretty selfish and I imagine it could lead to local authorities banning dogs from beaches completely.
  7. Thanks Stewart, we are thinking about going to the Turkish Restaurant in Chatteris so I will give you a call when we sort out a date.
  8. I have a car charger/air pump/light combi unit, which itself requires charging. I plug a transformer into the mains and connect it to the car charger and it usually takes 24hrs to fully re-charge. There is a meter on the front which shows how much charge is in the unit, and a light on the front which tells you that the unit is charging. I have plugged it in and left it a couple of days and it still has no charge at all. I have measured the output from the transformer and it is 16v dc. I had a look at the transformer and it says; 16.0 v, 0.65A and the input on the charger says; Input: 16vd.c.max 1000ma. I cannot swear that it is the correct transformer (the polarity is correct) so my question is; is the 0.65a output insufficient for the charger?, or will it eventually charge if I leave it long enough? Thanks Tony

  11. It is rather good, one of his other songs; Is she really going out with him? has one of my favourite opening lines; "Pretty women out walking with gorillas down my street" so much bile so neatly condensed into a single line! I can picture him glaring out of the window at his ex and her new love walking down the road together.
  12. Looks like Soham is getting a new station, so there maybe hope for Wisbech. https://www.networkrail.co.uk/running-the-railway/our-routes/anglia/reconnecting-soham/
  13. I have built the supporting frame for my 60" x 36" layout and I am intending to pin and glue the surface plywood. I remember my old woodwork teacher telling the class that pins or screws were only to hold the wood in place while the glue set. So, before I go ahead, has anyone had an experience which contradicts this advice? Thanks, Tony
  14. The hotels we stayed in in Sri Lanka also served curry for breakfast, and I often have it a home, delicious and filling.
  15. Thanks Tony, I'll give that a try, although I do live in the fens so sun is often in short supply! Wind, plenty of that, not a lot of rain, but sun? hmm

  18. On the subject of using spices, one of my go-to meals is coconut dahl, it's really simple, Masoor dahl, tin of coconut milk, chopped onion, two chopped medium tomatoes, three finger chilies, s&p and....... Turmeric. I have almost been banned from using Turmeric in the kitchen because, no matter how careful I am, it always makes it's way onto SWMBO's tea towel or white cabinet door!
  19. Thanks Brit15, I will definitely be looking for these products in the near future. I found the different flavours in the yellow curry really enjoyable.
