  4. Another year passes, time for a review of 2023.
  5. UTA PW Wagons Inspiration from a Jonathan Beaumont picture taken at Lisburn gave me the idea of converting some Dapol 4 plank wagons into these ex NCC wagons used by the UTA & NIR as PW wagons.
  6. KIRLEY JUNCTION - Last Train On Christmas Eve. J15 Locomotive with a rake of ex MGWR 6 Wheelers plus horse box on the last passenger service on Christmas Eve. Hoping everyone gets home for Christmas.
  7. Sligo Tank SLNCR ‘Lough Erne’ / UTA Z Class #27. On a visit to Whitehead RPSI in 2015, I took loads of photos of number of #27 and then started a search to get someone to do the etches for this locomotive in 00 gauge. Tony Ragg came to the rescue and he did the CAD drawings, made the etches and did most of the difficult soldering tasks. The end of the build is in sight and here is a short video of the making of the Sligo Tank.

  9. Supertrain Coaches MkII & MkIII coaches in Supertrain livery with Class 071 locos #086 & 088.
  10. Pallet Cement Wagons There was a time when cement was king, these wagons were seen all over the network.
  11. Sligo 0-6-4T Locomotive Lough Erne [Part 5] Locomotive arrived back from Tony's to add the 'bits' Still a mountain of work still to do.
  12. New Beet Wagons Introduced. Beet Traffic got new wagons to try out, they were old shipping containers with the roof removed and a side hatch added. They were placed on 42’ flat bogie wagons and were planned to replace the double sided wagons. Unfortunately, the beet subsidy was withdrawn and the beet industry collapsed.
  13. Sligo 0-6-4T Locomotive Lough Erne [Part 4] Tony Ragg completed a etch for the body work, here is some more of his work.
  14. Just found in Neil Spinks book on SLNCR, Horse Box #1 came from WL&WR as a replacement for the original SLNC vehicle which was damaged at Sligo
  15. Beet Train Held At Clonmel Beet train held at Clonmel while the Arrow passenger service from Waterford arrives.
  16. Thanks JHB, I ran out of 'M's after doing a rake of coaches, must remember to add it. Did the SLNC have the same Horse Box?
  17. The bogies suppied are too big and I'm waiting on the placements. Hoping they are a finer print.
  18. Provincial Wagons - Ex GNRI Bagged Cenent Vans Was at the South Dublin Model Railway Show on Saturday and picked up Leslie McAllister's latest models. They needed some cosmetic work on them so I removed the chassis and re-sprayed them grey. Picked up some spare bogies from the IRM Stand, you never know when they will come in useful. Then a bit of weathering to finish them off.
  19. NIR Castle Class 450 – Suburban Livery [Part 3] Hornby OO Gauge BR Class 390 Virgin/Avanti Pendolino Power Car Motor Bogie motor after been savaged by the Dremel. The bogies supplied were the wrong size but I used one as a mounting post for the motor, hope it works. I was able to finish the Intermediate Car but the rest will have to wait until I get the new bogies.
  20. KIRLEY JUNCTION - De Dietrich & Gatwick coaches GM 201 #8208 on the Enterprise De Dietrick coaches while GM 110 #8113 is on the Portadown run with the Gatwick rake.

Jeeps & Spoils In the late 60’s a regular sight on the foreshore of Belfast lough was the spoil trains, special heavy-duty wagons built by Craven of Sheffield and pulled by last of the operational steam trains of the WT Class to provide a base for the present M2 motorway. [WT Class #53 -Worsley Works, WT Class #50 Hornby 4P Class conversion. Spoil Wagons - Provincial Wagons and Scratch built.]
