  1. IRM Tara Ore Wagons [rejects] When IRM got their first batch of Tara Wagons from the factory it was noticed the side stanchions did not go all the way down to the chassis so they were rejected and lay in IRM Towers since. At this year’s Dublin Railway Show they decided to sell these off as rejects at €20 for a box of two. I picked up two boxes and replaced the missing stanchions with plasticard. Hopefully some weathering will mask the different shade of paint. The early trademark IRM wheel squeal is still present.
  2. Looking forward to this. MPD’s - there were so many different types, I’ve seen drawings of the following series 36- 39, 40 – 41, 46 – 48, 49 -53, 54 – 55, 57 – 62, 63 – 65, + 6 trailer car types. 63 – 65 were double ended so which of the other series did you go for?
  3. Yes Colin, Owen can be contacted by email 3dprinting3dcork@gmail.com, he is also on Facebook.
  4. KIRLEY JUNCTION - CIE 20' Flat Wagons. I had gathered 20' flats from Provincial Wagons and IFM but never seemed to have enough for my containers and other loads. Owen O'Neill from 3D Printing, Cork offered to to design and print some. The buffers and hooks came separate and you also had to add wheels, coupling hooks and paint them. The following video is my 20' wagons in action.
  5. Fantastic result Pat, credit for any information supplied should go to Gareth Brennan who made a model of this loco for me.
  6. KIRLEY JUNCTION - Magnesite Wagons These wagons from IRM took a long, long time coming but they were eventually delivered on Friday. The detail on these wagons is so good I had to be extra careful in handling them in case I did damage. First run out on Kirley Junction.

Delighted to see you posting Jim and maybe we will see see some pictures of your Loughrea branch line soon, whenever you finish Irish Railways Line By line Vol.3?

  14. KIRLEY JUNCTION – CIE Covered Wagons Some 3D printed models from Ken at KMCE Models, DWWR / DSER Cattle Wagons and a DWWR / DSER / GSR 13' 6" Ashbury Covered Wagon. Great detail on these wagons. Also included are 3 wagons converted from Slaters 8 Ton Coke Wagon kits.
  15. KIRLEY JUNCTION - CIE Covered Van I saw Jonathan Beaumont’s suggestion of using a Slaters Wagon kit to make a CIE Covered Wagon, the one that had part of the roof missing but sometimes a tarpaulin was use to cover the gap. I got some 8 Ton Coke Wagons and the first problem was on how to add a roof at the correct profile. I cut some plasticard along with Slaters ‘planked’ sheet to make the ends and doors. I used some corrugated plasticard for the roof and added some door furniture. Built the other two, this time I cut away the beams to let the doors sit flush with the body. First build with a coat of grey. To make the tarpaulins I first used a thin piece of plasticard to cover the gap and added tissue paper coated with PVA. When dry it was cut to shape. Finished wagons with decals added.
