  1. Hi Stuu, think it's just "spray mount" or similar - messy to handle, but effective. I think the swarf does need to be quite fine, otherwise it will look out of scale Minimal modelling today, prep of water tank for RHTT - very important to file off sufficiently: Then emery, to get the join virtually imperceptible: And when sprayed you don't see the join... Time for Doctor Who....
  2. Tell you what I did do Matthew - I removed the weights that are fitted to the BAA and have replaced with the cradles. They do weigh more - but not much. Deck removed too, so that also saved some weight. Have modified 4 FEAs with buffered ends / sprayed black. Useful resin cast ends courtesy of an rmwebber .. Thanks Richard. Fabricated 2 RHTT modules and primed. Made up handrails. That's pretty much it this week: Spud peeling next I think.. May require IPA
  3. Time for a pose, here are the 12 BCA steel cradles behind 60001. Always difficult to get a good photo of a long rake and the light in my unit is rubbish at this time of year, but you get the idea. Wonder if a 60 can pull 12 ? I think it would.
  4. Cooor Bob, you're up early ...late .... ? Small bits done today, picked out the lighting and cabling on the side of the twin jib and sprayed roof to fully blanked NR coach grey: What an amazing day weather wise for November ?? Viva Mexicana.
  5. Hi Mick You know, I had the parts and just thought why not ? Give it a go ? Sure I can improve on these. In the meantime I've resprayed the error.....(need to let the fully blanked coach dry before I go near it with masking tape to do the roof) Here is the twin jib status: Balfour.....not Colas (sorry Bob) Viva mexicana.
  6. Hello again... Ok, have sprayed a black roof on 2 NR coaches, roughly reassembled. Think I've "failed" on one by including a Wc Window when I should have blanked it ! Whoops. So, cantrails and a few other transfers to do and they should look OK. Just shows you can do it when you put your mind to it. The fully blanked coach needed further coats of yellow after I had to rub part of it down. A further coat or two of yellow on the 950 shells, need to think about the mods to roof before I spray that next....should really have tackled that being "going yellow" Last up, I've sprayed the deck for the twin jib crane (currently drying) and the 2 deck pieces. Have painted bogies and done the buffers. Will share a shot later when it's all dry. See you, Nick Hmmmmm....maybe the roofs needed to be grey ?????? Shucks...
  7. Thanks Ali and others... Just had a peek at your thread Ali, like those PFAs....don't tempt me... I will be noodling how to paint the individual bits and pieces of the cranes before I stick them together, sounds an easier way of getting the required paint job to me.... Can't quite believe the quality of the kit, amazing fit and finish.... Have never seen resin like it !
  8. I know I keep saying it, and I do sound like a broken MP3 player, but the brake disc inserts really do add to the model.... Sorry to report, but I have started (yet) another project... Dry fitting of parts only so far..
  9. Thanks Richard, it's good to be doing something creative. Spot of rusting today:
  10. It's a good point. I'm a bit past that now, but hey....I can always have another go with mk2 .... I may need to !
  11. Hi. Further paint pre Grand Prix qualifying.... The fully blanked coach (the number eludes me) will need a rub down on one side as I think I overdid it on the paint and ended up with a powdery finish. The 950 needs a few more coats to obiterate the primer / putty. That's pretty much it today, may do some weathering on the BCAs (already done the buffers). Should get some time this week ... Few days off. See you... Nick
  12. Further coats of yellow on the coaches, and an initial spray to the 950. I had the 950 masked up...was then gawking at photos and realised the grey roof extends lower and to the front of the unit rather than that depicted in the Model Rail description of the how they did their unit. Maybe it's been altered over time ? Masking duly altered.
  13. Thing is.... It all started at DEMU this year. There was a 950 on the Bachmann stand - or was there ? Mick - you can back me up here, you were there....maybe you saw it ? anyway.... When it didn't happen I thought it was time to set about it. I've just realised the roof needs attention, removal of stuff and replacement with suitable other stuff.
  14. Ha ! I have the itch Jack....and the cream over the counter didn't seem to cure it. Yes, I am itching...have started today !
  15. Good news, I've been able to get a base coat of weather on the BCAs Plus a lashing of sunshine yellow on my 3 test coaches I can see a few issues - do I fill, sand and prime or carry on ? They were just "to see if I could do it".... I'll look tomorrow & assess. Kerpow ! (Not kernow)
  16. Continuing the 950 fill and rub down....prime, do again. In the meantime another unfinished project that steps closer.... Hopefully tomorrow I can get some yellow on the 950 Nick
  17. That Mick makes a lot of sense ! I must be patient when applying the yellow.... Lots of coats, not just lash it on !
  18. There is the theory of the Moebius, a twist in the fabric of space and time.....where time becomes a loop.... I believe I'm caught in that loop.... Further primer and filler applied since the above photos..... The green putty is brilliant by the way, very fine and dries very quickly.
  19. Hi There's ALOT more sanding and filling and more sanding on this coach than you think. Pretty much there now, yellow paint next ? This one I've had up my sleeve. Again ALOT of sanding - particularly if the inserts were perhaps not fitted quite deep enough in the body like mine, but almost there... Managed to flip one body while priming so have marked that and it will need a rub down. Snapped a camera off too.... Suitable cursing followed.. May get a first coat of yellow tomorrow in between various jobs - sanding kitchen worktops, polishing car. The blue car and the yellow paint don't wanna be in the same vicinity.... See you, Nick
  20. Thanks Tase It's good to be back. Yellow paint has arrived from a shop near kidlington... Cue the yellow fingers, nose etc.
  21. Ahhhh.....errrrr.......it maybe time for me to "cough" now ??? Maybe one day it will make a return to a show like Wells Green ?
  22. And I'm back in the room BOOM. Well, it's been a while. As some of you have probably twigged I've been selling alot of stock. Having cleared credit cards and built up a nice reserve I'm back to actually doing some modelling ! Sad to see a lot of special stuff go but a release at the same time not to have huge debt hanging over me. Deposit for a new road beast too.... Anyways, I had some window blanks hanging about so I thought I'd "go yellow"..... And after a spray of primer I'm here. Have done some filler on the completely blanked one since and sanded down. Just playing really. Still have the BCA project on the go along with various other stuff. Happy modelling, Nick
  23. Let's be honest, the "Chiltern" livery WILL be happening - it's just shades of grey, no corporate logos to display. For a modern loco they sound GREAT....cue chip.

    EBay madness

I'm fessing up on this one. I start it at 99p....... Look at it now. Do I really believe I'll get paid ? No, no sir eeeeee Mental http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/252050607542?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
  25. Very very good John. Really like those MBAs and the scrap yard scene. Nice touch with the bits of metal hanging on the magnet I'm currently at Stirling awaiting a freight ex Inverness. Copped a 68 earlier on which was good Apart from that I've been swamped by DMUs. Scum.
