  1. Can’t help you with the livery circa 1970 but this is the current internal layout of the one on the Dean Forest Railway.
  2. Fox do lining for the early Bulleid electrics from the same era so that might work: https://www.fox-transfers.co.uk/transfers/lining-for-southern-prototype-locomotives-59612
  3. Thank you for a very informative reply. I’m attaching the picture of it in IWC livery. I had intended to do an LMS version until I found this picture. Having a longstanding interest in the IoW railways but very little in model form I thought this would make a nice addition.
  4. I have no information on its withdrawal but if I find anything I’ll post it here. I’ve only seen one picture of it in IWC livery so that’s what my model is based on.
  5. Very useful to see these pictures. I am just finishing an old Slaters kit and have done it as per the one that ended up on the Isle of Wight Central Railway.
  6. Have you seen the Scot-rail website? This shows several different types of snow ploughs from that period. http://www.scot-rail.co.uk/page/snow+ploughs
  7. Mr Muscle drain cleaner is very effective at etching brass. Spread it on, leave it a couple of minutes then rinse with water. Once dry, it can then be primed. If you prime straight on to the brass as it is, there is a risk the paint will peel off with the slightest knock.
  8. Concrete sleepers for points and crossings have only been used on the British network since the 1970s. A scene set in the 1970s and even into the 1980s is likely to feature timber sleepers for most S&C. Concrete sleepers were used predominantly for plain track.
  9. Yes, and they did get back to me after a few days.
  10. Three summers have passed since I ordered a Fell and still I wait. Mine was one of the early orders that disappeared into a void. I’ve been offered a refund but I chose to wait until something can be delivered. I suspect a few more summers may pass before I see my purchase. I just hope they might have straightened out the various running issues by the time it turns up.
  11. I emailed Keith last week and had a reply this week asking which version I had ordered. I replied immediately but have heard nothing further. Doesn’t inspire confidence.
  12. Anyone else still waiting for their Fell to be delivered?
  13. I’ve done a few for my son’s diecast vehicles and they turned out quite well, considering they were done with a cheap printer. The carrier film was good to work with. I’ve not done any railway items (yet) as I don’t think I would get a crisp enough finish for small details. I use transfers made by the specialist suppliers for rail.
  14. I agree, Metcalfe is easy to make to any shape and size and it looks good when complete.
  15. Thanks. I’ve already tried them but it seems they’re out of stock of this item.
  16. Does anyone supply 4mm scale sockets like those on the front end of the Class 17 Clayton I saw on the Severn Valley Railway, please? I could use several sets for detailing a few different models but have not found any suppliers. To clarify, I’m referring to the orange sockets angled downwards. Thanks.
  17. These are available from Phoenix: https://www.phoenix-paints.co.uk/products/jed75
  18. Thanks, Keefer. I’ve used ‘Kitchen Car’ on both sides and it looks the part now. Seems to be very few pictures around showing them in blue/grey livery so I’ve used artistic licence.
  19. Talybont on Usk is 7 miles from Brecon on the B&M so is likely to have had similar stone. This is the underbridge over the canal. Hope it helps.
