Got me in one! Glad you didn't claim your £5.
Can you get an Ikea table with a pants drawer, just to be on the safe side?

So Robin. How would isolation work in your case when you are already in Coventry?

I can explain this one. The increased time humans are spending at home is having an adverse effect on the cat population. They are being prevented from taking their full 15 daytime naps by humans disturbing them. Awake for up to an additional 4 hours a day they may as well fit in a few extra snacks.....

We were told that IT could dial into our laptop cameras remotely so mine was covered with a bit of insulation tape except when I chose to use it.

Perhaps you can help me with a philosophical question. Why is it that some people's worst fear in this whole crisis is the prospect of running out of bog roll? Just began 14 days self-isolation as my lovely wife has mild symptoms. Unfortunately it seems to have coincided with a complete loss of modelling mojo so I'm just moping about bored....

Found this nice bit of Mogul action ( plus others) earlier.....
Very nice if perhaps a bit clean.
That pannier wasn't offending anyone either.
Thanks G

I'm afraid that the preserved railways are victim of the advice to avoid "non-essential travel" because that's their core business. In the same way as we are being told not to go to pubs and restaurants the people running them will need to decide whether they risk the variable costs of continuing to open in the hope that enough people ignore government advice and come out.
A cynic would say it would be fairer if mandatory closures were ordered, but of course compensation would be morally if not legally required in those circumstances.

This was Steer Point Viaduct in 1984
Maybe a good example of a lightly constructed bridge across a creek, if you can find a picture of it with its top on

Righteo chaps, gather round!
Just checking the date and time for the minutes ... right it's 21:00 hours on 16th March (1940). There are grim times ahead, and we need that line from Brent to Kingsbridge extended down to Salcombe, PDQ.
I don't need to remind you that for once we don't have to bother with things like Planning Permission and Public Enquiries. We can put the line wherever we damn please, and I have the Executive Order right here
The Army Engineers have reported back, and here's the two route options they've suggested so far.
- Option 1 : That goes closest to the town and the new RAF Airfield on Bolt Head. But that's still strictly hush-hush. We might get a briefing on that later, if the RAF chaps turn up? I'm told they're waiting for a connection in Brent.
- Option 2 : That's further from the town and gives us access to a new deeper water harbour. The Navy people are keen on that for some new toys.
Gentlemen, start your opinions.
Oh, one last thing, there might be some wagons of explosives coming round from HMS Hades later.
Option 1 but then add a short harbour branch from Batson to the point to accommodate the navy boys

Pompey?
Looks like an LNER van. SR open obviously. No idea about the third.

Have I perhaps got the wrong Phil, or are you being coy about your involvement in preservation?

Firstly I have to add my congratulations and thanks for this wonderful facility.
I'm not the kind of person who could/would join a physical model railway club and the advice, information, encouragement and inspiration I've had from this site has been invaluable in getting from dreamer to actual modeller.
Strangely though, the highlight for me has been how the forum has encouraged actual social gatherings. For me this has included the ANTB social days at the GCR and GWR, going to football with @gwrrob and @Mallard60022 the SWAG Taunton event and the various chats and coffees with fellow members at exhibitions up and down the country. There is help given and received so often on here but one does stick in my mind. Chris @2ManySpams asked about the dimensions of SR concrete ballast bins. I was able to help because I had an unmade whtemetal kit that I could measure for him. He said thank you, end of story...... No. Much to my surprise he contacted me to say that he had made an extra one for me as a thank you. I know that mutual help and kindness of this nature goes on every day on here but that's my personal example.
I do enjoy the banter on here and @gwrrob describing me as the Ronnie Barker of RMWeb was certainly a proud moment.
I think we are very lucky to have some very knowledgeable professional railwaymen on here like @Stationmaster @russ p @Captain Kernow @Phil Hand@Oldddudders to name just a few who have helped me.
We have some great modellers on here and have sadly lost some too, Dave Shakespeare coming to mind.
Some say that RMWeb sometimes gets in the way of actually doing some modelling but for me I'm sure I do more modelling and better modelling because of RMWeb. Can't say fairer than that.
Thanks Andy and all who have helped over the 15 years.

Complete load of bowlags coming up, but it is actually true and relevant to the Fishy post.
I once hitchhiked, with a mate of mine, to Brizzle from Exeter, just because we wanted to. Would have been early 1967. Getting back was proving difficult as it was dark and evening time. No idea where we were, walking out of Bristol (probably somewhere on the old A38) but this truck pulls up as they did back then even if you were blokes. Yup, Exeter no problem (well, the By Pass, but we could actually walk in those days). It was a fish wagon from Grimsby and going to Plymouth! Turns out that fish went both ways back then because fish local to Devon and Cornwall and the Bay of Biscay etc. was not the same as North Sea fish caught by the Hull and Grimsby Fleets. Now, I do not know if the North Sea fish also came all the way down Devon and the west's fish went back up by train in the earlier days, but I can't remember a 'Fish' being one of the workings into or out of Plymuff when I were a spotter; could have been night-time of course and from Millbay as Snooper suggests or on the SR from Friary Goods (which isn't far from the Barbican that was the Fish Quay back in the 50s and 60s).
What I'm on about is that a few Vans of Fish may well have appeared going west and or east/north on both WR and SR.
Ar$£
Although the beauty of any van traffic is that Empties and Fulls look exactly the same. Except P4 modellers will probably have the fulls set lower on the suspension. And modellers who provide scale smells, obviously....

Quite right Dudds. We now have a quasi commercial BBC behaving like it needs to survive on advertising whilst robbing us blind for license fees. Meantime we have totally commercial Sky producing some wonderful dramas, films and documentaries. Time for the license fee to be scrapped im my view and I think the squit over charging the elderly will be the last straw....
