  1. Hi Mike, you’re no doubt correct. I don’t know Sheffield that well and didn’t realise the Supertram was so close. Jim
  2. Would an extension to the Super Tram potentially using Tram Train technology not be a more viable option?
  3. Thanks adb968008, much appreciated. Cheers, Jim
  4. Does anyone know what the set number of this will be?
  5. I’ve always wondered if the stub was retaining with all the signalling and cost of maintaining the tunnel why the Hayfield line wasn’t retained. I understand the unit would sit in the tunnel for the duration of the path to Hayfield & back.
  6. How is this going to affect buying from overseas? https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/trav/impo/buyi
  7. Manchester Oxford Road. Had the entrance to the adjacent Cornerhouse cinema behind the bay platforms.
  8. Yes there are some real clangers. Class 76s are down as Class 26s and Class 506s are down as Class 306s. Jim
  9. When is this wagon good for? There is a photo on Paul Bartlett’s excellent website from 1992. I thought they were all Westen Region but does LM signifiy London Midland?
  10. Some information here, sounds like it has been scrapped: https://www.national-preservation.com/threads/dinting-railway-centre.22588/page-2
  11. I would leave the Class 104 to Bachmann with their 57’ platform and concentrate on exploiting current platforms.
  12. I would certainly be up for a Buxton Class 104. As for ‘current models’ I still think a Class 155 is a no brainer.
  13. Regardless of the politics, economic and technical reasons it is just a such sad waste. It is a pity they couldn't even run them in France, I recall a few years ago SNCF were using them on domestic services, I don't know if they still do?
  14. I always assumed it was because Manchester was once in the County Palatine of Lancashire. Incidently the route of The Palatine train passed under Palatine Road in South Manchester linking what would've once been the County Palatine of Lancashire with that of Cheshire. Jim
  15. Does anyone know what the set's numbers will be? Jim

    Class 142

No, that is Regional Railways GMPTE livery. This is the Network Northwest here :https://www.flickr.com/photos/jncarter1962/10478915936/in/photostream

    Class 142

Only Class 150 had NNW livery, the Class 142 had the logo on the original Provincial livery. The Class 323 never carried it. The first Class 323 units I saw in the north west were in the original Centro and later on in the second GMPTE livery.

    Class 142

Were the GMPTE and provincial ones (and for that matter Chocolate & Cream) used on any particular routes e.g. GMPTE liveried examples in Greater Manchester only where possible or were they used as a common pool?
  19. Great photographs Ian - blue/grey suited the 506s well.
  20. When did the scrap yard close? I am aware the main line closed in 1982. Another cracking photograph here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/64731573@N05/9166865043

    Class 142

Hi Charlie, Thanks for this - that would place the model sometime from 1994 onwards according to this useful online resource: https://sites.google.com/site/pacerchaser/pacer-pages/pacer-page-1--class-142 I would have however preferred an original 4-leaf brown one which would have offered the advantage of being suitable for both Western as well as northern operations. Are there any plans to do an original one in the future?
  22. Incredible 'before and after' photos with only the electricity pylons as a reference. I can recall the M63 motorway being built through Stockport and the disused sidings at George's Road still extant around this time.

    Class 142

When did yellow doors on chocolate and cream appear?
  24. When did the LMr departmental stickers first appear? Jim
  25. I think a Class 304 would probably have the greatest potential as would a Class 303/311 or a Class 309. Or how about a PEP derived unit: 313, 314, 315, 507 & 508? As for locomotives again I agree a Class 89 would make the most sense with three liveries to choose from. Jim.
