Great to see more from this masterpiece of a layout.
-
Thanks Don. Things seem much better thanks. I just want to make sure my final event is as good as it can be. That means making sure all the things are ready in time.
-
Kev.
Considering the date I think a full "Up the Line" would be very appropriate. I will email you.
Thanks
Andy

Hi Colin
The only current proviso on layouts are that they are transportable by car and do not need a van hire so that we can limit the expenses. I will consider anything.
Thanks
Andy

Do you fancy a return visit?? The bacon cobs remain as good as ever.
-
Thanks Paul. As the blog says - the show survives for another year at least...now about Foster Street????
-
The layout is superb Paul, don't let the "rivet counters" grind you down. It is your layout, you run what you like. Will seem strange at Weston this weekend without the procession of Jubilees on Foster Street!
-
Me too. Third on left looks the best. Just been led to this blog. Great progress. I will be following.
-
Was good to chat to you. Disappointed to miss out on having a good look at Windmill Lane as it is the perfect size for shows such as ours. I am sure I will see it again in the future.

Andrew.Y: I must admit I forgot to include Balleyconnell Road in my review. I agree it is a fantastic layout and showed up 3mm scale very well. The operators were indeed very friendly. Definitely one of the best in the show, maybe in my top five (behind the three shown above).
Andrew.P: You found the bacon cobs?? I ended up with sandwiches in the coffee bar. Trust you to get a bit of bacon!

It really is coming along very well. Those Metcalfe kits are certainly effective.
-
Some great progress.

I thought Sileby was a good show, but a bit cramped in the two halls. Lots of nice steam era layouts, not sure modern image fans were so well catered for. One layout never ran at any point during my visit with two operators just sat around looking at their computer.
Had a nice visit though and followed it up with a trip on the G.c in the afternoon as my little daughter insisted on visiting (and who was I to argue).

Thanks bynackmor. I have never been to the Lincoln show and may give it a try next year if I can go on the Saturday. Glad you like reading the blogs. I know they don't always please everyone, but that is life I suppose. As mentioned, I went to Sileby the previous week but had no time to write a blog entry.
I am hoping to make the Mansfield show on Sunday so you never know I may manage a blog about the visit.
-
Good luck for the show. Can you add another award to your growing collection.
-
Yes the Hornby Dublo layout was excellent, as were the demonstrators. I did not look at the tramway layout much I am afraid. I only picked out some of my key highlights as the blog was written very late.
-
You are heading towards the dark side. Before long you will be getting the copper and brass out!!!!
-
I agree. Several of my threads and blogs act as diaries and records of my modelling experiences. One thread also helps to promote my own exhibition. I was very upset to see the latest entry in the latter category suffering from this problem.
I have been assured, after venting elsewhere on here, that the boffins are on the case. I sincerely hope that they can fix the problem.
-
Congrats on the exhibition invites. They are thoroughly deserved!

I have one or two layouts in mind, some are linked to this site. I do not want to give away the identities of these just yet as
A. I have not yet contacted the owners.
And
B. I do not want to name layouts if they are not going to be able to attend.
The layouts belong to people I know so it is just a matter of sending the messages.
-
I would agree on Foster Street blog. Not read the others you mentioned. I would recommend Andy.P's "West Shed" blog.
May I suggest that this subject may be better as an ongoing thread than a simple blog post.

What a nice looking Jubilee - correctly numbered too. Much nicer than the black paint vandalism that has carried out on the real version! Duchess looks nice too, a bit of nationalisation creeping in it seems!

I don't normally buy that mag, but saw you were in it so had to buy it! Some great pictures.

I am so sorry to read this news. Paul was a top man. I met him when he brought his layout to the Weston on Trent Model Railway show, he attended more than once. My thoughts with Tim and all others who were close to Paul. A sad loss.
