Does the funny coloured smoke coming from the chimney which has just appeared at the rear of the crane indicate that it is being prepared for door replacement duty? Don't see any pigs flying past! Superb modelling again ! All it needs is one of your little cameos, perhaps a beer supply being unloaded? A dray with a couple of shire horses and barrels being dropped off' --Literally for barrels up to 18 gallons onto a large straw(?) pillow , bigger sizes lowered down a skid-slope -- I've looked for a photo but not found one yet, I could do a drawing / sketch of a typical skid if required, (I lived in licenced premises for 15 years and saw many beer deliveries ). The horses could be trusted to stay put, while the Dray-men were rewarded with a "quick half" by my Father , not sure that the brewery approved! You will have a good excuse for a static display since my Father always treated the dray-men with a glass of beer. Not sure the brewery officials approved. The horses were trusted to stay and wait.
  2. Now the difficult questions ! ---No good asking me ...I was "advised" to drop History during the school year before O-levels, I was thoroughly fed up with Bismarck at the time!
  3. Coincidently this works out to be a FARTHING per ton per mile.
  4. most recent use AFAIK was (is?) in the casting of bronze Bells For Churches etc.
  5. I've give up trying to understand SWMBO, who seem incapable of entering a room without switching on a TV then immediately sitting down and reading a book. ! fortunately we don't have pay to view TV!
  6. And some of us do neither.... in my case I've not paid to watch a football match since 1962! (been to about 6 matches as freebies , if i were a MP I'd have to declare the gifts)

Nah, My mate David isn't like that at all...... OH! .... THAT David Attenborough But was the crane discovered by an Industrial Archaeologist? The fossilised bits have been nicely reassembled

That crane.... well, it's had a run out, should have blown the cob-webs away, and be ready for door repair duties? sorry, we finished with spiders a while back!

Ipsy--wispy spider will be looking for the nearest Water spout , got them fitted at the pub yet, Kevin ??? ( Nice to see the Flanders & Swan "song of the weather" being quoted above, gentle, British humour at its best )

Kevin has missed a trick! there are no windmills to tilt at on LM.
  11. I saw a reference to Herself reprising an appearance in a remake of "The Railway Children" Don't expect it will involve underwear being torn. Edit... beaten to the punch !!

Nearest that I can get is that I had a great-grandfather living in London's docklands, who got away with bigamy....(at least we can't find any record of criminal proceedings, info. gleaned from census and other records. and hoping that two and two really do make four!. Also, taking a lead from Edwardian's Castle Aching, ---perhaps L.M.'s tidal creek is concealed in the folds of the map.
  13. She's on a loser then, The Atlantic water would not convert into a decent Malt Whisky

Foolish question! -If they slow down they will be in reverse!
  16. What about the responsibility of the computer program makers ?? They are not getting much "bad press" so far
  17. Above is the End Gable of a workshop adjacent to the funicular railway at Bridgnorth but not part of it. Not been able to discover the reason for the "decorative " brickwork Another door in a wall! again at Bridgnorth. The steps lead down to the River Severn, passing the door to the Funicular Railway lower station. The building with the door opening belongs to the "Severn Hotel" and was originally the hotel's Brewery. used for delivery of sacks of Hops etc I assume. Another view below:- The steps (reputed to be 200 of them) predate the Funicular and lead up to "High Town"

A London based friend went through a period where he and his wife talked of little else other than moving to France and building their own dream home there. The had (still do) a neighbour with a French wife who spent about 30% of the year their property in a remote part of France, so my friend spent all his holidays, for a couple of years, looking for a suitable property to rebuild. They were shown a number of sites ranging from an abandoned cow shed to residences in similar state to Kevin's well observed model. All the French properties were described as "having possibilities"!! Common sense eventually prevailed.
  19. Still lurking on a number of topics, But conspiracy theories could be generated if Annie was feeling neglected. No theories by me however, i have a little sticky badge on my jacket to proclaim that I have had 2 jabs of the Astra Zenica vaccine. But still not allowed to hug anyone yet!
  20. What a lovely little Model ! Also the slow running , particularly the slow start , were an indication of the quality of the build, and the quality of the electronic control equipment. I assume that the model had a form of springing of the axles ?
  21. if you don't know of it, there's a Tramway Museum at Crich in Derbyshire, I was lucky enough to travel on the last tram at Colwyn , North Wales, since it was at midnight, , no photo to show!

The Airbrush Debate ...... I read in an (American) Model Railroader many, many years ago someone describing the overuse of an airbrush resulting in "Charlie -Horse of the pointing digit". I never discovered the derivation of "Charlie-Horse" but the meaning was crystal clear! I do have an airbrush but have never used it!
  23. That's how it is, Weather you like it or not ! Now where did I leave my coat.........
