  1. No by its definition niche means a small percentage of the market. The vast majority of modellers do not want a Class XX driven by Bert on 01.01.2000 when the loco had one green panel , a defective light, and Bert wore his red shirt instead of his normal [ 0nly] blue one, they want a Class XX in as near standard condition as possible so that they can make their own special. I once heard Simon Kholer turn down a request from a well known model shop for a special particular to them
  2. Well said sir and a very very true statement. Third party tooling should only be for niche models and not mainstream ones.
  3. It was probably described as DCC READY which means it can accept a DCC chip should you wish to go down the DCC route. As far as I know Hornby have not made a DCC Fitted Flying Scotsman set. The " chip" you refer to is the blanking plug. Should have gone to a local model shop
  4. BUT it does show the price including VAT as well so what is your point ?
  5. All goods are shown with VAT included BUT if the shop is in the VAT Export scheme then a notice is shown. The tourist pays the price shown and then must show a form completed by the retailer to HMRC at the port of departure and claim the VAT back but then must declare it to their own customs agency when re entering their homeland and any duties applicable paid. There is normally a minimum level of £250 I believe . You can not sell goods without VAT to tourists, only to certain bodies that are VAT exempt and they are few and far between. If you buy goods for your own use in Europe you pay the VAT in the country of purchase and that is it. This may well all change after Brexit.
  6. All displayed retail prices in the UK must show the price INCLUDING VAT
  7. Surely the light green examples were National Bus Company ones
  8. At last a common sense and well reasoned response
  9. What a load of fuss about a mistake. It is a mistake for goodness sake not an evil plot to convert us all to become Railroad buyers. Lets put it all perspective
  10. Some people are never satisfied
  11. Not necessarily credit card machines etc cost money and the cost passed on to YOU the visitor. Think of the moans and howls of protest then
  12. The most common advice given re DCC is to always test on DC BEFORE putting the loco to DCC. Normally any problems found can be ironed out .
  13. Eh Gads The factory came first and then Pecorama which in case you hadn`t noticed does include a miniature railway and a superb garden so it makes sense to show case their own products at the place of birth so to speak
  14. What argument ? Peco play fair by not discounting their own products as a gesture of good will and a show of support to their RETAIL customers as do Guagemaster. Please grasp some business sense
  15. I can`t see the point of this post
  16. Possibly should have ordered it a day earlier
  17. Surely if they are green he [ or she] is fully charged
