  1. Jamie I was thinking of a small micro brewery, more than one of the big boys!!! (is Coors beer!!!!) thanks for the feed back Ray
  2. after ED had brought up a valid point about switching industry C ,i had to set it out to make sure it fitted, phew!!,5" to spare (as the bishop said to the actress) even with cushioned under framed box cars and a B30-7 there's still room if I want to switch with a SD, All those boxes are where my industries will be (so far) may need some tanks for unloading my tank cars! i'll play around with the track, just to make sure it's all going to work out as planned! Ray
  3. A couple more from today 423-606 at Siddick by the sea!!! Jubilee 45699 Galatea on the Cumbrian coast express at Saltebeck Ray
  4. ED -the cars at D will be outside, those dot are car spots, there is 38" between the toe of the point (for C) and the first spot at D max length train will be 2 50"box cars (15") 1 covered hopper(8") plus a GP (8"),if the last spot has to be pulled all 3 +loco will fit, the last car is then dropped on the end of the siding for industry A, the in bound is picked up from the centre siding arrival/departures and the reverse happens(that's the plan!!!). Jordon- that was my original plan(and still maybe), but having talked to Mr Gilbert at Derby, he brought up a valid point, that the main player that most people want to see (loco) when switching C will be in the fiddle yard (behind D) most of the time, i can live with that, but could the paying punters.!! you do see diamond crossing in switching areas, this was my only way around my problem, unless you can see another way, things aren't set in stone, there's still needs a little bit of tweaking! Thanks for your feed back Ray
  5. After months of inactivity, i'm still no further on, other than I've settled on a track plan (I think) i'm not going to do a blow by blow of the build (don't want to up set the red dot police etc,and to be honest life to short) having been donated 5 large code 75!!!!!!! points and half a box of track(from some one who gone British O gauge) it's based around them, size will be 12'x14"(the space where helm was) a modern switching layout, no run round,1990ish. i'm going to try car card & way bills, hence the little boxes on the plan, these will probably be built into the front of the boards. Nothing started yet, other than a pile of wood acclimatizing in my cellar, will up date when I get a little further down the line! feel free to comment on the track plan, there may still be a bit of tweaking to do!!! Ray ,
  6. Not a great deal of change this week, still the usual culprits 409 leaving Parton 419 after leaving Harrington 423 laving Workington 419-611 along the sea wall, reduce to 3 coaches Ray p.s think Thursday is when they change set around ,hence no 10.04 Preston, but don't hold me to that!!!
  7. While out photo'ing the tractors on the Cumbrian coast, these came along while I was waiting (all around Workington) 059-604 Salterbeck 218-611 moss bay 218-688 Workington 218-611 Workington Ray

Ray p.s you got a picture of my legs in the second photo at barrow!!!!!!!!
  9. 409 turned up today, in place of 605 419-409 coming of Harrington viaduct 409 at Workington station Ray
  10. the clearance problems is between Maryport and Wigton at Bullgill ,that's why they had bars on the 1st gen DMU'S, they moved the track closer together under the bridge (when the hoyers started running), if there's was a freight going north/south it's held at Maryport or Wigton, till the north, south bound passenger clears the section!, don't think this applies much now as there's not much freight. Ray
  11. Everything seems to have settled down today, after yesterday's trains all running late (30+ at one time, hope know one had connections) running, approaching platforms slooooooooooooooooowly ,no spirited start either!!! here's the players in the pack used so far, taken over the last couple of days, it's playing havoc with my work patterns!!!!! yesterday 423 at Salterbeck 0n the 15.28 WK taken at 16.03 609 at Workington on the 13.31 WK taken at 14.02 today 605 at Workington on the 07.39 WK on time 419 at Workington on the 09.35 WK on time Ray
  12. rumour has it that 37419 and 423 will be the 2x 4's top and tailed with 2x 376xx's the late running test (10.07) today at Workington with 423-609 Ray

  16. In May 2010(is it really 5 years ago),to celebrate the end of the Cumbrian coast floodex, a group of people formed 12D rail tours, to run a charter" Solway Viking "from Workington to York (all profit went to local charities) ,we had 37059 through out, and may I say, it did a excellent job, here's a few photos of the event 059 bring empty stock into Workington waiting for the road (and me) arrived in York Part of the motley crew who gave up there free time presentation of the cheques(and some more of the motley crew) My contribution to the tour, (some ones got to do it) was to man the real ale bar there and back!!! we run out of beer on the way back, some people blamed me for drinking it, which is not true, i was just testing the quality, (nothing worse than beer that's gone off ) but there were some (you may know Geordie) who didn't be leave the pumps were dry!! Ray
  17. a long the sea wall at Harrington coasting into Workington leaving Workington few more of 423 from the last couple of days, only 16 more days to go, till start up, here's hoping all the problems will be sorted out, lack of stock only 5 coaches out of 12 needed(all the good stuff went to Anglia), availability of 37 4's, Northern train crew issues, platform lengthening behind schedule etc, hope this isn't a case of DRS " biting of more than they can chew"! Ray
  18. a pleasant surprise today, instead of 37423,which has been on the test trains! Not a good sign for those tractor bashers, but good for us photography's!! Ray
