  1. London Transport Museum - pick & shovel work on the London Underground
  2. I said that there was another Unimog photo - here it is!
  3. Union Castle passing Salisbury C box in 1963 - click on the photo - it looks so much better full-screen.
  4. I guess the area to the south has changed quite a lot, with most of those sidings being replaced by car parks and ?industrial units.
  5. A Trac Unimog ro-rail shunter at work near the Newhaven Marine junction. Don't worry there is a different U for Unimog pic for tomorrow! Note the speed restriction Termination sign as well. NB the fancy logoed presentation is just me being flash - it's not an official photo. I could draw your attention to the ferry Terminal where the Transmanche ferries dock and the disembarked artic trailers awaiting collection.
  6. A Southern West Country heading south - Tamar Valley on the Pines at Oxford.
  7. The Somerset and Dorset Joint Railway line has to be one of my 'S's. Of course this has been scanned for one of John Sutters negatives I could have used this one for my Radstock R
  8. The three locos hauling the Seaford 150 celebration specials, in 2014 - two at Seaford and one at Newhaven - two steam and one diesel
  9. Given my interest in the railways of north Somerset I would be remiss if I didn't find a Radstock photo in Dad's albums. 5708 was the number on the diecast Gaiety pannier, with it's three-railed Triang chassis, that was one of the first two model locos I owned. So 57XXs are among my favorites.
  10. Reading is my most obvious choice for R - and this illustrates the nightmare for photographers that OHLE is - even before the wires go up!
  11. I am getting a bit desperate using 'Quay' again, but I don't think anyone else is likely to use this one
  12. Surrey Quays station on the East London London Overground line
  13. Glasgow Queen Street - I don't think that I have used this one in this thread before.
  14. One of my photos for a change - the Queen Mother at Waterloo. Was her face left dirty when her sides were cleaned, or does this illustrate how fast a newly cleaned loco acquires flies and grot on its cab front?
  15. Ryde Pier Head - just across the water from Portsmouth Harbour. To avoid confusion - across the water seen below is Ryde.
  16. Another, somewhat less grand, London station starting with P - Peckham Rye
  17. You only have to look at the S&DJR's early locos and rolling stock to see a mix of independent builders' products and non-standard parent company built engines. Passenger and goods stock were largely built in house at Highbridge, but showed influences of Midland and LSWR stock. You can see a selection of official photos at http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/gallery/album/4114-sdjr-official-rolling-stock-photos/
  18. O for One - the stupidest name for a railway company - followed by First....... anything They make station announcements very confusing.
