  1. The grey green is reminiscent of panels used in concrete buildings in the 60s. I think that Hannibal House, above the Elephant & Castle shopping centre still has those, although the Google maps pictures aren't brilliant. As far as the other building goes, I expect that the ground floor finish is like the Lloyds bank in Borough High Street, rather than marble. So I think beige or cream would be about right.
  2. D811 Daring at Exeter St. David's, Devon August 1961 - pity it wasn't December. Keep adding Ds
  3. Sleeping on the job - I am amazed that that is done with the support of the Board!
  4. The warehouse brown looks spot on for the area. I have turned up a couple more photos of details on Denmark House. I can't help thinking that there must be some Ancient 10 or 15mm wargames figures with hairy heads like the ones on this building.
  5. Nice one of the Cambrian Coast Express, when locos still got a bit of a polish. In hunting down this 'C' I remembered that I had had a go at restoring the nearside buffer, which had been cut off by Dad's framing. I will add the modified one just for interest's sake! It's fun to play about in Photoshop, but it's slightly worrying when one sees what deceit one can achieve - Is the term 'photographic evidence' still valid?
  6. Now you have pointed it out I can see where it is. Thanks. Dad's colour photos were rarely as good as his mono ones. How he would have loved digital photography. He wouldn't have had to spin out a 24 exposure roll of film over several months as he often did.
  7. Another day another letter? C - This loco has been captioned Cumbria, in Dad's album, although I can't see a name plate, unless it has its name on the small plate on the bunker. More Cs please
  8. How many Bs do you want? Braunton & B of B class 501 Squadron? I have always liked this photo, although it is a bit fuzzy. Seeing those big locos gliding through Vauxhall on their way to and from Waterloo was always an impressive sight. Is the letter B, Friday's letter or do I need to ask for a C?
  9. There was another CoW around More acronymic antics please.
  10. Have you seen this view? http://www.geograph.org.uk/photo/2789467
  11. From my collection of public artworks in Southwark, I have this detailed view of the decoration on the top of the western end of Denmark House
  12. There are a couple of versions on YouTube - I skimmed through one - it's two hours long - and there is a shot where the Sally Army band is playing at the entrance to Battle Bridge Lane (I am fairly sure it is there) At 1hr 42min you get just the very corner of the pub.
  13. Have you come across these film stills before? Captures 6 & 7 may be of your stretch of Tooley Street. http://www.reelstreets.com/films/pool-of-london/
  14. Most of the warehouse buildings in that area are grimy yellow London brick, which appears as various shades from khaki to dark brown. The smokeless zones only came in around 1965 and the older working buildings rarely, if ever, got washed down.
  15. Where one can see the ends of locos in Dad's photos from the 1980s there are none to be seen. They do appear on carriage ends though. http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/gallery/album/4434-electric-traction-in-the-1980s-ohle/
  16. I am not quite sure why you would model this but I found this bit of railway architecture quite fascinating - brick arches built between roof girders.
  17. The florist was in the 1965 PO Directory - so things look as if they have moved on since then.
