  1. North Vancouver docks - another view of the sulphur loading plant with a few ships in the background north vancouver.jpg Cheers, Mick Obviously the prototype for all those roundy-roundy trainset layouts, many of us started with!
  2. One very disinterested German Shepherd in this shot - which I could have used for the level-crossing challenge and probably a few others.
  3. I see from your spread sheet that you are planning to run Sir Archibald Sinclair on your layout. This photo shows how the loco looked in 2011 at Sheffield Park.
  4. Martin Murdoch opens his garden railway for fund-raising about three times a year. Although his current guide dog shows no interest in having a ride, his previous one, Trent, now deceased, used to enjoy a trip around the circuit, which goes right round Martin and his partner's house. Martin does most of the track-laying and maintenance himself, as well as much of the driving, despite having no sight. He also has an N gauge layout indoors, although I have not seen it. You can find more about Martin's railway at http://www.the-railway.homecall.co.uk/personal/railway.html
  5. Well I think that he is aware that North and South Korea are next to each other, so it makes sense to have those points of the compass next to each other.
  6. Hampden Park is one of those stations where trains in two directions call at both platforms. North of the station the track forks with one line going east to Hastings and Ashford International and one going west to Lewes and Brighton or London. Southwards all trains go to Eastbourne where they reverse. Most trains only stop there once, before or after the Eastbourne stop.
  7. Right let's get back to basics and build a level-crossing!
  8. Even the numberplate could make you a bit queasy - YLO - yellow - 6 si x ck - puk* Perhaps my sense of humour is a bit too way out. Just as well I don't visit this thread too often!
  9. As it doesn't seem to matter how little railway or car can been seen, here's one which had a dozen or so Morris Minors lined up in different formations, with and without doors, boots and bonnets open, for the delectation of the City workers in Exchange Square, which sits above the northern end of London's Liverpool Street Station. The station and trains can be seen through the glazed screen of the overall roof.
