    I have a parcel coming with a courier.

    They have sent me an email telling me the parcel is at their sortation facility.

      It's only a matter of time before parcels are delivered by drones, which depart with a cheery, "Glad to be of service. Share and Enjoy!"

      The parcel arrived safely. They sent another email to explain, "the parcel has been delivered today" which was a bit of an anticlimax. I guess they used the passive voice to distance themselves from the post-sortation transit activity or whatever they would really like to call it.

      You were lucky - I'm expecting a parcel (a book) so I was alitt;e surprised half an hour ago when a DPD van drew up at the gate as I thought the book was coming via RM.   But it definitely wasn't the book - it was an ironing board (and before you ask I am not passed out as competent on either ironing boards or ironing)
